Pakistan spends 7 times more on arms than on schools

Yea, and thanks. But I prefer a reliable outdated source to an unreliable updated one.

Depending on the country that updated, most of figures on India are from 2009.

Outdated sources are always unreliable even if it is from a reliable source. Try SIPRI.

I ask all the Indians posting here, are you guys genuinely concerned about Pakistan under funding public education, or are we just scoring internet brownie points here? :undecided:

Those brownie points if scored don't exist.

Coming out clean here buddy, I am not concerned per se, but would seriously love to see the state of Pakistan educating its masses.

Thanks, but does SIPRI also have information on country-wise expenditure on education?

Don't cry, go to Pakistan and educate some. If your location restricts you from doing that, then use your own education to write about this situation. Use your time and assets wisely and make people aware of this situation. In doing so, try not to overburden yourself. Just play a small role, but do play it.

Just shaking the head in disdain or crying about a problem never helps.

You haven't provided any source which gives a figure of 4.2%. You're calculating the figure yourself. Also, for India, as we discussed, the actual number is around 2.0% or 2.1% (maybe even higher). I don't know why you brought in India though.

I provided you the source of India..where it says India is 1.8% of GDP..but you are not ready to believe it ..and say want to see the calculation.

I provided you the sources for Pakistan's hidden military budget and mid year increases..and then calculated % from highest GDP figure I could find ..but still you are not ready believe it so what can I do??!!

PS: you need concentrate more, while reading ..It wasn't me who brought India into this thread..it was your fellow.

This article is very true, especially after noticing most Pakistanis bad grammar and spelling compared to Chinese and Indian members here.

India's military spending is 35 billion. India's GDP is around 1.4 or 1.5 trillion. Even if you use the figure of 1.5 billion, you still get a figure of 2.3%. Neutral sources still report figures such as 2.3%.

I provided you the sources for Pakistan's hidden military budget and mid year increases..and then calculated % from highest GDP figure I could find ..but still you are not ready believe it so what can I do??!!

From what I found, the "mid year increase' you're talking about is part of WoT. Here's the source for the "mid-year increase" part http://www.defence.pk/forums/econom...on-increase-defence-budget-3.html#post1158409. So it seems you've found a way to manipulate statistics. That alone drops the figure by at least 0.7% to 3.5%.

In the same thread as well in several other threads, it is mentioned (even by other Indian members) that India does the same with its pensions as what Pakistan does. Are you sure you're right in what you're saying?

I found sources on that:

http://www.indiatogether.org/2005/may/gov-defcosts.htm
http://tinyurl.com/4ch227x

So that's one more statistical manipulation? So without any manipulation, the number comes to around 2.3% for India and 2.9% for Pakistan.

budget?..where?

Doesnot matter if it was part of WOT or post flood sweetner ..they went out of your budget and not US..because US only gave you fixed amount for CSF last yr
That is $1499 Million= 127 Billion PKR

No your total expenditure on defence= 675 billion + 110 billion - 127 Billion = 658 Billion = $7.74 Billion

http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/row/pakaid.pdf

Perhaps you are right about defence pesions for India..but I remeber when Musharaff changed it for Pakistan.

PS : Just imagine ..if believe your theory 2.9% GDP ..what will your education budget will come to (which will be 7 times lower.)

In that case I hope you never repeat that India uses 1.8% of it's GDP for defence. Any scenario will give a number higher than 3% for India, then.

As far your theory part is concerned, it may be possible that the authors of the article are comparing the education expenditure against the 4.2% figure you're giving. If it's 2.9% then it comes down to five times as much.

Why, I have a most recent and a reliable source for 1.8% do you have the same ?

Well again you are coming up theories..you cant prove.

Are you this thick? I just stated that you're including pensions in Pakistan's defence budget but are not doing the same for India's defence budget, and I gave you source for that. It seemed you admitted that, but now this...? You didn't give any reliable source btw. You have 2.3% - 2.5% of GDP for India even if you don't include pensions and some other expenditures.

Well again you are coming up theories..you cant prove.

You can't disprove it either.

Are you this thick? I just stated that you're including pensions in Pakistan's budget but are not doing the same for India's budget. Did you miss that?

You want exclude defence pensions for pakistan..go ahead exclude Rs 70 Billion from it ..see what result you come up with.

Another thing you need to remember is that Pakistan's GDP at the end of 2010 was $177.9 Billion
But middle of the yr, when your union budget came up(middle of the yr)..it was only $172 Billion..so make your calculation from there.
http://tradingeconomics.com/pakistan/gdp-at-current-prices-in-us-dollars-imf-data.html

You can't disprove it either.

You are the one making a claim..burden of proof lies on you.

Another thing you need to remember is that
