After the recent Hindutva's imposed Blockade on the only existing trade route of nepal in response to support for the madhesi people in nepal by forcing the majority of nepal to make illegal changes in its constitution.

Extremist Hindu elements rise in india after the last year election and the bad luck of Nepal to be india's land locked neighbor.

The People of Pakistan can feel the suffering of the people of Nepal as Pakistani people since the last one decade has suffered alot at the hand of Indian sponsored terrorism in Pakistan.

Pakistan can offer trade route to Nepal Through China.

Advantage for Nepal for Pakistani trade route via China

*Reduced dependence on india
*No Blackmailing by Hindutva's
*Alternative trade route
*Increase in Nepal/Pakistan trade
*Nepal becoming part of CPEC eventually

Forget the cost involved and profitability and obviously 'trade what ?'...

It is plain and simple amusing that some Pakistanis have already started considering China as a part of their territory.

Yes, Nawaz should start talks with Chinese in this matter asap :pop::pop:

And OP is religious bigot and for his info Nepal is more Hindutva than India.

@farhan_9909 have you ever looked at a map before? The only route outside of Nepal to China (and by extension to Pakistan) is via Tibet, which btw is closed for most of the winter. The nearest port to Nepal is Kolkata which is as near as 550 km, compared to the thousands of km to a port if you take any other route besides India. Nepal gets to use this route to Kolkata port for free. Not to mention the millions of Nepalis working in India. Pakistan can offer all of this through that semi-open Tibet route?? Really?

@Samudra Manthan i told you, these Paharis are not Hindu, they are loyal to China only. Helping us madheshis gain independence will stop any Chinese and pakistani attempts at gaining influence.

This is just some random Pakistani's delusions, so please do not pay any attention to it. Splitting Nepal won't help India in any way. India has no animosity with Paharis either. The bulk of our Gurkha regiments come from the paharis. So splitting of Nepal not happening really. No Indian thinks in those terms and definitely not GOI.

Imagine if this was your son or daughter.

There is unrest in Nepal and it is acknowledged by India. It is very sad what is happening, but this isolated incident does not define Nepal neither does its decade of communist history. Nepal is an old country and India will not harm Nepal. Now, as far as Madhesis are concerned, India has thrown its weight behind Madhesis and other marginalized groups in Nepal and want Nepal to reconsider the newly drafted constitution. Hopefully, Nepal will reach at an equitable constitution truly representative of its pluralistic/dharmic character.

It's up to Nepal to decide what it wants to do. Clearly there is a fear in Nepal that it relies too heavily on India, but it is up to them to decide their own future.

Nepal’s top ten exports to and imports from India and China
Alternatively, it can also be India’s and China’s top imports from and exports to Nepal, if we assume that exports from Nepal to India (or China) equal imports by India (or China) from Nepal.
In 2010, the top ten exports of Nepal to India were textiles; ferrous metals; chemical, rubber, plastic; crops; beverages and tobacco product; metals; vegetables, fruits, nuts; food products; minerals; and leather products. Basically, its primary commodities. Meanwhile, the top ten exports of Nepal to China were wood products; metal products; textiles; mineral products; leather products; wearing apparel; chemical, rubber, plastic; machinery and equipment; vegetable oils an fats; and crops. Basically, no high value added products.

In 2010, the top ten imports of Nepal from India were petroleum, coal products; chemical, rubber, plastic; ferrous metals; machinery and equipment; mineral products; textiles; transport equipment; food products; motor vehicles and parts; and metals. Basically, the imports (demand) from India are pretty much price inelastic. Hence, the widening trade deficit, no matter what happens to the economy! Meanwhile, the top ten imports of Nepal from China were wearing apparel; textiles; electronic equipment; machinery and equipment; leather products; vegetables, fruits, nuts; chemical, rubber, plastic; manufacturers; metal products; and motor vehicles and parts. Basically, most of these are price elastic. The problem is that Nepal cannot produce them as competitively as the Chinese producers do because of the industrial ills and high cost of labor.

Interesting stuff:
  • The total value of top ten exports by Nepal to India is approximately USD 226 short of the value of top import (petroleum, coal products) from India. Nepal’s top export to India (textiles) is just USD 20 million higher than the value of textiles import from India.
  • The total value of top ten exports by Nepal to China is approximately 16 times less than the top import (wearing apparel) from China. China’s tenth top export to Nepal (motor vehicles and parts) is USD 4.6 million higher than Nepal’s top export (wood products) to China.
The data is sourced from UNCOMTRADE database using WITS. It is at 2-digit level (GTAP nomenclature). I will have a similar blog post about India’s and China’s top ten exports to and imports from world.
Here is previous blog post on the growth rate, exports, imports and Nepal’s trade deficit with China and India.
