No offense intended but some of the theories and defense analysis of some respective members gives me extremely severe paroxysmal headaches
92 planes replacing 192.
First of all PAF operates with approximately 125-135 Mirage III/V in five Squadrons (5, 7, 8, 22, 27) and combat commander school at Sargodha. Some crashed, some really old irreparable ones broken down for parts.
All the Mirages we operate are not combat jets but
12 Mirage III R/RP (Recon Aircrafts)
02 Mirage III DP (Trainer)
07 Mirage III OD (Trainer)
02 Mirage III DE (Trainer)
04 Mirage V DPA (Trainer)
02 Mirage V DPA2 (Trainer)
Total = 12 + 17 = 29
Now it doesn't work like this that you replace 200 old jets with 100 more advanced ones, all the jets are not parked under one big shed.
There are different Squadrons strategically placed across the length and breath of a country comprising of a number of planes every Squadron operates with, again strategically assessed as per your requirement and capability of operations.
But having said that Multi-role fighter will always be required in lesser quantity as during bombing raids by ground attack air crafts some air combat jets are sent for air cover which you don't require for Multi-role fighters but 100 can still not replace 200
One more thing, it is noting but a myth that PAF prefers single engine over twin engine jets, twin engine jets are the majority of the advance fighter jets today and for a reason.
I hope I have cleared some misconceptions.
Cheers
