no it isnt....even 2009-10 "aid" levels (which was higher than what it is today) represented only 0.14% of Pakistan's total GDP growth

following the Pressler Amendment we were sanctioned to the teeth and we survived just fine

All I'd really say is that our interests will continue to be divergent as long as the U.S. does little to contain indian influence or designs on our borders in Afghanistan -- which Pakistan takes particular exception too given our security-related concerns. I think Pakistan is advocating a regional integration approach with the RELEVANT stakeholders. Given Russia's influence in the CARs (which neighbour and have impact on Afghanistan) it makes sense to engage with them - as we all work towards stabilization of Afghanistan. Not just Russia, but Iran as well - which holds sway among the Tajiks and the Hazaras.

everyone knows that for a dignified exit strategy the NATOs will need our help; but once their Afghan adventure is over they'll likely maintain less or little contact with Pakistan.......trade and commerce would probably continue as always but security-related cooperation would perhaps decline.

obviously among the older generations - they remember Pakistan as the country that fought them in a proxy war and helped divide the USSR; but then again they armed our enemy and were their primary weapons supplier so it works both ways.....if US and Russia could press a "reset button" (for whatever the heck it's worth) then so can we.....doesnt mean we have to be "best friends" all of a sudden -- it's just a question of where and in what areas can we align our strategic interests

It's not about aid, it's about IMF, World bank, exports to western countries, I hope you have a of idea of US clout around the planet? As of now you people are allies and still they don't care a damn about your sovereignty and keep on conducting operations well inside your territory, you can very well imagine when they won't receive the desired cooperation from you guys, what will they do? Chest thumping and getting all emotional is great but Pakistan simply can't effort to be on the wrong side of US, the price is too heavy to pay

No, they put 65%, but the project is as good as useless without full funding. Russia can withdraw its share, or India can withdraw hers. Either way, it will end with neither side having a Fifth Gen Aircraft, which is not something either side wants.

This warm water bullshit, the relevance of warm waters has declined over the years due to many factors.. But for Pakistan it is the most important factor, because they have been indoctrinated with its importance.

Indo-Russian relations have taken a different level altogether, we have moved to a area where we are developing 5th gen fighter together.. There are some more of these very critical tech shared by Russia..

The kind of ToT Russia provides to India even a NATO ally cannot expect from US..

Pakistan only gains them another market for arms and yes if a warm water port comes with it why bloody not? They will sell you some weapons, some hellis and maybe some fighter planes.. they get more profit on the same investment.

Think people, world is no more a place that Russia since it wants the fabled "warm water" it will loose India. That is but a fools wish!

Americans complain only if something is not going their way. say something "anti-American".

Anti-American is not necessarily pro-Pakistani.

In fact anti-American thing being done by any Pakistani could hurt Pakistan really bad and thus the action could be anti-Pakistan as well.

What kind of question is that.

If some Indian asks for apology to you as a person, is that anti-you? or anti-India? or anti fulana fulana?

Come on man. Asking for apology is a human act. Why would you make it anti-anything? why?


If you are looking for anti-American examples, then look for stuff that we do AGAINST American citizens, property etc. in Pakistan. And kill and maim ourselves in the process.
