Pakistan refuses to sign three multilateral pacts at SAARC summit: officials

. .
Imran Khan is for open trade agreement with India despite all the hostilities on the border. This would help decrease growing unemployment in Pakistan. Now you know why our establishment rigged elections in favor of their man Nawaz!

Pakistan can trade with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh via the sea, so if those two countries are willing to open up their markets under SAARC, then why would they not want to do so under bilateral trade agreements?

Pakistan asked to take time to first complete its "internal process", specifically the motor vehicle pact. Also, avoided signing the agreement on the bilateral people to people connectivity program, which was as enthusiastically supported by India as it was by Sri Lanka.

My previous post was in context with road based trade. You cannot sign it with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka without first signing it with India.

But even on people to people connectivity, Pakistan could have easily been coaxed by Sri Lanka were it even a bit interested.

It reminds of a Pakistani (ex-Ambassador) on a talk show who mentioned how at a UN convention in 1974 the Pakistani representatives were zealously protecting their educational system against any introduction of studies on philosophy. We see the result today in the masses that can be swayed so easily. Pakistan's firm stand against open trade will only help the rich get richer and the poor get increasingly dependent. That cement tycoon, whatever his name is, will have no difficulty selling his cement to India whether Pakistan signs the agreement or not. But the ones on ground, who could benefit from competitive rates and highly diverse opportunities if the country were more open to trade, will have to do with whatever is left-over by the rich.

Personally I never really understood true nature of Indo-Pak enmity. Its been 67 years since we separated and formed our own nation states, and as our founding father said it; relations between India and Pakistan should be like relations between US and Canada. So there you have it. Pakistani establishments never followed Jinnah's own vision. Then they blame India for all their own shortcomings!
To be simply put i seriously don't understand the reason behind so much hatred between the people of the two countries specially when our ancestors were pretty much from the same stock irrespective of what some delusional members try to preach in this forum and they lived together in a relatively peaceful manner for well over 700 years since the advent of Islam as a major religion in the Indian mainland.Kashmir was never the true cause of this blind hatred as portrayed by some fellow PDFians. The real issue is far more complex and probably above my understanding.Anyways i have shared the views which most of the Indians and Pakistani members share about each other for i believe that our real enemies are sitting 5000 miles away at present in an island laughing continously at our ignorance for the last 7 decades:rolleyes:.

Yeah, our ambassadors HAD to protect our Aristocrats in the name Aristotle! :D

Regurgitating nonsensical allegations by a man (Imran Khan) who suffers from a complete lack of consistency on any issue, and is essentially demanding unconstitutional measures to get himself back into power (and begging the very same "puny establishment" to help him do so) does not a rational argument make.

I don't know about Road transit but as for the second one you will figure out during the next power cut
The power shortage can be overcome via energy imports from Pakistan's Western neighbors and investment in setting up more dams and power plants, so what else?

Kashmir could have been resolved in 1947 if it was not Pakistan's hunger for more domination of Muslim occupied lands.

.
Never, since Pakistan never moved its illegal armed forces out of Kashmir per UN resolution, thats why!
So you admit that the Kashmiris never "chose India", as you earlier claimed. Are you sure you aren't Imran Khan in disguise posting on this forum, because you are exhibiting the same lack of consistency that he does ...

Elections were held in Kashmir later on many times and Kashmiris went to vote. If they didn't wanna stay with India, why vote?

Be consistent for once, no need to defend your childhood hero blindly. I remember when potians and IK himself used to bash Nawaz when Pakistan was trying normalize relations with India.
