Pakistan refuses to sign three multilateral pacts at SAARC summit: officials

Nothing to do with any "trust deficit". When Pakistanis and Indians meet abroad, they are like long lost best friends, even more friendly than their own Pakistani or Indian friends. I know it because I have seen it myself. Our governments should reflect ground realities, and ground realities are such that we as a nation we DO NOT hate each other anymore. Its our propaganda ministries run by extreme right wing or left wing that are always spewing hatred between us for their own political goals.
Sometimes i wonder whether we can ever become friendly neighbors in the near future!I mean what i am saying is not at all impossible.Just look at the Brits and the French, for centuries they were arch enemies to each other killing each other at the slightest pretext but those same nations became the best of pals and fought shoulder to shoulder in two world wars. The same is true between France and Germany who were sworn enemies at one point of time but since then have evolved to become dependable friends and allies. So there are tons of examples in front of us(both India and Pakistan in this matter)of how bitter enemies became the best of pals once they forgot about the past and thought that friendship would be mutually beneficial to both of them.

Transport by sea is actually pretty efficient - the only country where the distance might be an issue would be Bangladesh.

Its not more efficient than road or rail:coffee:
Plus sri lanka is very small country to trade with.

.
lol, Pakistan alone refuses to sign deals with other SAARC countries and you ask me where is the isolation ?
Isolation in the geo-political context would refer to the refusal of other countries to engage with Pakistan - in this case it is Pakistan refusing to engage (within the SAARC framework) with the other countries, for valid reasons IMO.

Its the puny establishment of Pakistan that is pushing him. This guy has no balls to stand up against them, yet alone his sole competitor Imran Khan.

Puny establishment ???? care to explain . Or you just watch the video where IK calls generals cowards ....

Personally I never really understood true nature of Indo-Pak enmity. Its been 67 years since we separated and formed our own nation states, and as our founding father said it; relations between India and Pakistan should be like relations between US and Canada. So there you have it. Pakistani establishments never followed Jinnah's own vision. Then they blame India for all their own shortcomings!

In which case you are isolating yourself , These deals will bring the SAARC countries closer while you are left out of the deal due to your differences with India .

Please see the discussion on the pros & cons of open trade with India in the existing thread on the same subject. There are valid reasons against opening up trade with India.

if that is the case trade will never exist because seldom you will find two countries that are very similar. trade happens because of comparative advantage of countries. pak is good in many areas of business that india is not that good.

Ship transport is definitely more efficient than road. Rail transport might be closer to ship transport, but again, I don't see a significant enough benefit to Pakistan in using rail transport through India to Bangladesh instead of Sea. Are there any studies analyzing the pros and cons of the two that you can point to?

Establishment of Pakistan is solely responsible for East Pakistan breakup, massacre of MQM in the 90's, massacre of Balochis and countless other socio-economic, political problems in Pakistan. They are also responsible for why Pakistan failed to have lasting peace with India which is good for Pakistanis in the long run. If they run for election, they would never win so they rig elections in favor of their chosen candidates. If its not puny, then what is it?

Pakistan would be "isolating itself" only if it was also refusing to engage with the SAARC countries (excluding India) outside of SAARC. Pakistan is not doing that, and is exploring bilateral trade agreements with other SAARC countries.

.
So Pakistan refuses to sign the deals?

Well, i would be concerned if other nations refused to do business with Pakistan, because then, that would be isolation.

But alas, like always, your idiotic argument falls flat on its face.

Yes, you are isolating yourself . I know you are desperately trying to find something positive from this as your ignoramus mind usually would . But by refusing to sign these deals you stay outside of the closer relationship the other SAARC countries have developed and hence isolated ..

Every country has bilateral trade with every other country , having a common electricity grid and Road transit is something else all together
