Pakistan raises Kashmir issue at UN; seeks OIC intervention

You can create your Bollywood reality but it wont change anything. Kashmir remains a disputer territory and the UN resolutions are not going anywhere.

Come out of Lollywood fantasy....J&K is out of UN disputes. Smell the coffee...improve your relations with India or be in a state of constant tensions with India. India is fine with this state...but can Pakistan which has 15% of India's resource afford?

United Nations: Pakistan has once again raised the Kashmir issue at the UN Security Council, seeking mediation from the world body and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to resolve the issue.

Speaking during an open debate on the subject of regional organisations and contemporary global security challenges on Tuesday, Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi said the 57-member OIC can also contribute to the promotion of global peace and prosperity.

"Collectively, and in cooperation with the UN, it has the capabilities to address and overcome these challenges including Palestine and other Middle East conflicts as well as the Jammu and Kashmir dispute," she told the 15-member Council.

"The UN should actively promote cooperation with the OIC in areas such as: mediation and conciliation of disputes; peacekeeping and peace building; humanitarian assistance, especially to refugees and displaced people; and in addressing the root causes of conflicts and extremism," she added.

Her remarks came hours after UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed "serious concern" over the recent escalation of violence along the Line of Control and hoped that talks between the NSA of India and Pakistan will result in a "positive outcome."

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval is scheduled to meet his Pakistan counterpart Sartaj Aziz in New Delhi for talks on terrorism-related issues for the first time on August 23, as decided in a meeting between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif last month in Ufa in Russia.

tough talk for a country thats surrounded by Pakistan, China and Burma, we are super fine with this state and Kashmir will never go away till resolved, u people have tried all sorts of gimmicks and nothing has happened so keep trying.

.
Anyways.... let time come. Forget third party mediation, we won't even have talks with second party

in a way its good for us keep doing it :D

If you think Kashmir is going to stop India's UNSC seat, then think again. Nobody cares about Kashmir. The things that will stop India's UNSC's seat is the reluctance of P5 to share their power with India.

Pakistan cares about Kashmir and Kashmiris care about Kashmir. India however is a non-entity in this equation. Try getting UN permanent seat --- go on.. give your best shot. We are here and so are Kashmiris.

.
Too easy. Raise Kashmir and that would deny India its lousy wish to become permanent seat member. India often forgets it needs to have zero border disputes with any of its neighbours to be eligible for that.

Ok...keep on hanging on Kashmir...but don't blame Indians if your are in constant state of underdevelopment with huge military expenditure.

If India is non entity...why ask India for talks?

UN permanent seat or no UN permanent seat, Kashmir is non negotiable, though I feel you would see India in UNSC in next 20 years.

.
It seems Pakistan is nervous/scared of this NSA meet, doing everything to get it cancelled.:pop:

.
It's a Bilateral Issue between India and Pakistan. Hence, UN or any other party can't do anything. :D

It is bilateral issue and India and Pakistan Bilateral talks between India and Pakistan will help the Kashmiris on both sides.

...unless both parties accept UN mediation. The UN Sec-Gen is on record offering UN mediation only if both India and Pakistan accept it, in acceptance of the stipulations of the Simla Agreement.

.
The recent raise of Pakistani flag in J & K clearly shows that masses are not ready to forgo their dear ones who were killed and are been killed since 1948. Indian army atrocities are not a hidden truth anymore no matter how well media tries to depict a calm and peaceful Kashmir.
