WASHINGTON: Pakistan's foreign minister said Wednesday that his country has asked the United States to provide unmanned planes that would allow Pakistan to strike extremists hiding in rugged terrain along the Afghan border.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in an Associated Press interview with reporters and editors that Pakistan, and not the United States, should control the missile strikes that have killed high-level extremists but also civilians.

The US missile strikes, he said, are alienating the Pakistani people and making it harder for his government to persuade locals to support the fight against militants.

‘We feel that if the technology is transferred to Pakistan, Pakistan will be in a better position to determine how to use the technology and, without alienating people, achieve the objective,’ he said.

Yeah Because India is afraid that these Drones will be used by Pakistan Against them.

Keep Dreaming that it will not Happen, But suddenly it may happen.

By the way we also have our Own UAVs to do the Job Even if USA refuses, its Not a Problem for us. We are used to it now.

I know that Pakistan has unarmed UAV's. BUT, has Pakistan ever demonstrated an ARMED UAV?

Pakistan does not have UCAV.We currently operate UAV's only...Pakistan is working with Turkey on UCAV Project.I think we could use F7's for ground attack but the aq people will simply run away when they hear the sound of jet where as i think Predator is quiet!

Push my ***, I lost faith in our government's efforts or abilities to show strength and dedication when it comes to negotiating and demanding, for ****sake, they can't even make U.S. drones stop striking inside our soil while they continue to whine about them, it still happens, and that adds an extra insult to the Pakistani people and makes me ashame of my own government because they are not able to stand STRONG and be FIERCE at the same time.

No it does not say ToT. Technology means the product it self.

If US is serious about WOT than it should not hesitate and if US wish to loose more of their men and resources and an ally than they can keep it to themself.
It was US senator who disclosed that drones are flying from Pakistan and now since the statement had obvius repercutions than this is the only way forward.
At this very moment US operating drones will not be wise thing to do.

Jihad, you might feel better if you stopped and thought about the realpolitik aspect of the drone strikes. They kill enemies of Pakistan without the PA being blamed for the inevitable collateral damage. So, in reality, they are a benefit to Pakistan IF you can accept the premise that al Qaeda people are already usurping Pakistani sovereignty and dragging Pakistan into a fight with the US that Pakistan did not choose and does not want. It is true that the collateral killing of "innocents" is reprehensible, but it is also true that such fallout of a war against an enemy who hides with civilians is inevitable and unavoidable. So, if you can get your head around the trade-offs involved, the US drone strikes may be the least worst alternative of several bad alternatives. Perhaps Pakistani sovereignty is "least" compromised by this approach than other alternatives that deal effectively with the foreign forces, al Qaeda and Afghan Taliban, that have embedded themselves on Pakistani soil, in defiance of Pakistani sovereignty.

^^it will be a cold day in hell before the US transfers such weapons systems to Pakistan. better to build your own capacity.
