Pakistan protests unprovoked Indian firing at Sialkot sector​

The Indian troops on Thursday resorted to unprovoked firing in Sialkot sector on working boundary, a press release issued by Punjab Rangers said on Friday. The firing which started at 7.30 pm continued with intervals throughout the night. The Punjab rangers responded the fire. Meanwhile, a civilian was injured due to Indian firing in village Nekowal.

Pakistan protested to this second incident of unprovoked firing in one week, at an immediately called flag meeting.

On Sept 12, Indian troops also resorted to unprovoked firing at Wagha sector.​

Pakistan has lodged a strong protest with India over an unprovoked firing by the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) at a Pakistani checkpost near the Sialkot international boundary, a media report said Friday.

Pakistan has also demanded a flag meeting between the two sides to investigate the matter.

The Online news agency, citing Pakistani interior ministry, said that the Indian security forces have violated a ceasefire agreement by firing at the Pakistani Rangers Thursday night in the Pokhlian sector near Sialkot.

The Pakistani Rangers retaliated and the exchange of fire lasted for about four hours. No loss of life was reported, it said.

The BSF again started firing at the checkpost Friday morning, the report said citing sources.

Meanwhile, senior Pakistani security officials have rejected the Indian media reports that it was the Pakistani side that started the firing first. They said no BSF soldier was injured in the incident.

Interior Ministry sources told on Thursday night the Indian Border Security Forces violating the cease fire agreement started unprovoked firing at Pakistani rangers checkpost at Pokhlian sector near Sialkot Working Boundary. Pakistani rangers retaliated and the exchange of firing lasted for 3 to 4 hours.

Sources told that on Friday morning the BSF again started firing at the Checkpost. However no loss of life has been reported.

Senior Security officials have also termed the Indian media reports baseless that it was the Pakistani side that had started the firing and further said that there are also no reports of any injuries of BSF soldiers.

Spokesman Punjab rangers said that Sector Commander Chinab Rangers Colonel Sohail summoned the flag meeting for investigating into the gruesome incident and recorded strong protest with India.

The spokesman further said that during the Flag Meeting the Indian commanders were clearly told that this is the 2nd incident of unprovoked firing by the BSF in the current month after 12 Sept Wagah border incident. If another unprovoked firing incident takes place than Punjab rangers reserve the right to give a befitting response

It must be mentioned that IANS had quoted a senior BSF official as saying that there was firing again from the Pakistan side on the Nikowal border post, about 30 km west of this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

JAMMU - The Border Security Force (BSF) authorities lodged a strong protest Monday at a flag meeting with Pakistani Rangers over Sunday morning’s firing along the international border in Ramgarh sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

There was firing along the international border in Ramgarh sector at Ballad post for half-an-hour early Sunday morning. The BSF termed it as an infiltration bid and claimed that it has been foiled.

BSF Inspector General A.K. Surolia said: “No militant has sneaked in.”

BSF officers held a flag meeting in Ramgarh sector and told Pakistani Rangers that the firing incident on the international border was against the spirit of the November 2003 ceasefire.

According to sources, the BSF officers told Pakistani Rangers that they should control the situation on their side of the border and not allow militants to come near the fence.

“We want Pakistani Rangers to live up to the commitment to stop infiltration not encourage it,” a senior BSF official told IANS.

Pakistani Rangers, sources told IANS, denied any involvement in the firing incident.

Sources said that the Indian border guards would take further steps to intensify the vigil along the 198 km international border.

^^^^^ here in India rightnow chinese show is selling like hot cake on news...ppl yet to get bore from it......as firing Incident is concerned pakistan.. last News was from Wagha Border abt rocket firing incident.....no news regarding firing between Indian and Pak. forces near sialkot( at least on TV).... rest aam Janta is prepereing for coming Festive season..... Yesterday Hindu-Festivals Navratras Started followed by Id on Monday( National Holiday on Monday).....I think more emphasisze on discount shopping in coming days.
