Pakistan poised to become fast growing economy: WB

.
dude what is this ?? ..some kind of joke ?? ...Did you even bother to read the stats or just simply posting them here to massage your ego over the headlines ??

That "typo" article clearly states this :

Due to an inadvertent oversight the expected GDP growth of 4.3% was mentioned as 3.3%” for 2013-14, according to a handout issued by the finance ministry late Saturday night after it came under scathing criticism for concealing the real health of the national economy.

So how is understating a problem when our actual growth rate is a lot higher ??

And secondly have those allegations come out to be true ?

Accused of fudging data to trick IMF - The Express Tribune

Govt says 3.3% GDP growth given to IMF was a ‘typo’ - The Express Tribune

. .
I think Pakistan is going to get another loan.....I have seen before giving any loan, WB and IMF praise Pakistan Economy...just wait 2-3 days....Congratulations in advance.

Pakistan is probably the only country in the region which fudges it's revenue data. What a shame.
Most incompetent country.

I hope whoever comes to rule Pakistan from 2018, has similar business minded reforming mindset. 10 years from now, Pakistan would be very close to being a $ 1.5 to 2 trillion worth economy. With CPEC phase III being worked on in ten years, the $ 2 T goal may be achievable a little sooner than 2028-2030.

@Irfan Baloch @DESERT FIGHTER: I just wrote about it on that other post.

Compare to who? India? How about send 10 million Pakistanis to the US and the UK, give them all H1B's and hi-tech jobs, plus outsource 10 million jobs to Pakistan. Let the 10 million living in the West send billions back to Pakistan every month. Call it the "FDI" and report it however you like to cook the numbers  :enjoy:. The WB will believe what you want them to believe as you are no longer in a need to get loans from them. You become their need, not the other way around. They'll kiss you and will give you a loan and will write whatever size of the economy you can project :enjoy:

Amazing how banks look at customers with a credit rating and bank balance with A ratings SO differently then B or C

Read my post above. India has the luxury to cook up her economic system and call the Expat's billions sent back to India every month, the "FDI". IMF, the WB, ALL are Western banks and work on lobbyists $$. Add real investments and the fact that the West wanted you to stand up to China, ends the story. The real credit to India's growth and all these jobs, etc, goes to China. You guys should thank them for their existence next to you :enjoy:

Pakistan is nowhere near having 20 million jobs given to them by the West (inside the West and in Pakistan as outsourced) . So be patient. I will tell you, starting in the next five years, Pakistan will be competing with India for hi-tech labor. Not one to one as India has 5 times the population, but a few dozen billions will be lost to Pakistanis over the next 10 years for sure. Add outsourcing, and CPEC, etc, on top of it.

Wow! Sometimes I wonder if you even actually believe what you say!

I wonder if you know how compound interest works. For Pakistan GDP to get to 2 trillion in 10 years, from current (230-240 billion) it will need to grow at the rate of more than 24% every single quarter!

And rest of your post is just butthurt tantrums about how Indian diaspora conducts themselves and work abroad.

dude get real ?

How does a simple mistatement "which was corrected" equate us to being a country which "fudges" data when India has clearly "changed its basis for GDP calculation" in order to look good on paper and then "insists" on it being right ?? :)

Although this does tell me that even after a 1000 years of Muslim rule the Indians still look up to the minions of the predecessor mughal state for their inspiration and equation in terms of action to justify their ego ..:D ...This is a very good sign for Pakistan in the future..

But coming back to the topic shall i add that India done has many things that I can mention which make it top in the region for just that. Do you really want to go down that path with me ??

Please show us where Pakistan has CLEARLY overstated its GDP in general ??

Not some tiny-bopper revenue mis-statement which was corrected even if it was done deliberately !

Not a single IMF or World Bank report has accused India of fudging data whereas same is not true for pakistan

In its recent report on the state of the country’s economy, the IMF has unearthed that, in a bid to hide the real budget deficit, Pakistan’s expenditures were understated by Rs317 billion and revenues overstated by Rs215 billion.

Start a thread on how PURE pakistan is and we can discuss that. Nagging like an Indian wife is not what this discussion is about :D

They dont need to ...Top Indian and world economists have themselves stated the obvious.

Also the IMF and World Bank NOT stating anything doesn't mean that fudging data hasn't happened.

Lets not dance around the issue to satisfy ourselves and learn to accept facts as they are.

Also "accusations" are not judgements ..lets talk about solid facts.. Indian RBI governor has accepted and said "Don't count too much into the growth figures" - Simple Admission of facts.

These are a TOP INDIAN ECONOMISTS words not some Pakistani that you all find so hard to digest :)

Fact is the dishonor and shame of being mentioned in an IMF report for fudging data belongs to Pakistan.
As for banks and economists not mentioning much about Pakistan is because Pakistan's economy is insignificant and worthless with zero value to global economy.

Before the US war on terror Pakistan was progressing well and was ahead of india in many fields, and will equal or overtake india soon in growth as the current situation is just a hurdle in the path and you always gain speed after the speed breaker.
Pakistan will have a higher per capita GDP than india in 2050 and will be a much developed nation due to its smarller size

.
Really ??...then maybe you should commit suicide as we were ONLY mentioned in a report but IMF actually sent a team of INVESTIGATORS to investigate your new GDP calculation phenomena :D

Can you setup a webcam before you set your pyre on fire ??

Not to mention that this "DISHONOUR" was a result of all the "FUDGING NEWS" in the Indian Media - Backed by none other than Raghuram Rajan :d

IMF to examine India’s ‘puzzling’ growth data
Will send an experts’ team this week to ascertain CSO’s figures

The IMF will also be looking to obtain more ‘back-casted’ historical data in addition to ‘forecasted’ data on the basis of the new methodology used by the Central Statistics Office.

Terming India’s recently revised gross domestic product (GDP) growth data as “puzzling” and prima facie one with “discrepancies”, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said it will send a team of its statistics experts to New Delhi this week to better understand the new methodology of calculation and ensure the data is error-free.

The IMF will also be looking to obtain more ‘back-casted’ historical data in addition to ‘forecasted’ data on the basis of the new methodology used by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) so that it can find out India’s potential output and thereby forecast the country’s medium-term growth rate.

Paul Cashin, IMF Mission chief for India, told FE: “We are seeing discrepancies or puzzles regarding some of the high frequency data. It has become a problem not just for us, but for the Indian finance ministry, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and all entities using the data.”
Besides, the IMF team will give its suggestions on the new Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation data and the methodology of its calculation (base year was shifted from 2004-05 to 2011-12 and weights of many food and non-food items were changed). The RBI has made CPI, instead of wholesale price index, the key factor in monetary policy decisions.

Let's assume pakistan is not fighting war on terror, then how it can overtake in any field ! This is the current statistics of india

1. India is the 7th largest economy by nominal and 3rd largest by GDP PPP

2. India is the 3rd largest producer of electricity, the state like gujarat produce more electricity than whole pakistan

3. India now become 3rd largest consumer of oil overtaking japan

4. India going to overtake japan in 2016 as the 2nd largest producer of steel

5. India road and rail network is one of the biggest in the world

6. India is one of the biggest Software and Pharmaceutical industry in the world

7. India is one of the biggest producer of cement and coal

8. India have one of the largest pool of engineers, doctors, technicians in the world

9. India is one of the biggest soft power in the world

10. India is home to largest film industry in the world

11. India is having the biggest remittance figure in the world

12. India is the top producer of many agricultural products,Milk in the world

13. India is the 4th most powerful military in the world

14. India is home to one of the largest billionaires in the world

15. India is one of the biggest space power

16. India is the biggest consumer of gold

So tell me on the above list how pakistan is going to overtake india if there is no war on terror? I know india is having big population but even in population proportion also no match at all...You can check google where pakistan stand now on all above parameters and then can make assumptions.
