Pakistan one of the least racist countries? Tell that to the Pakhtuns

My friend I am not really disagreeing with you but I believe how people present themselves is nothing but a reflection of the overall mindset of the society. Could scarf ever become 'fashionable' in a progressive society? I give you the example of Malaysia for I live here. Until early 1970s, Malaysian women used to cover their heads modestly with something like dupatta and chadar. During that time Mr. Anwar Ibrahim (the politician who went to jail on sodomy charges) introduced this radical philosophy (adopted from Salafi school of thought) of completely covering hairs. Obviously dupatta and chadar did not serve that purpose 'adequately', so Malaysian women looked towards Arab countries and adopted 'head scarf'. Now in Malaysia you see all sorts of colors, styles and everything fashionable you could imagine about head scarves. However, none of this was remotely possible if Anwar Ibrahim had not introduced the head scarf in the first place, and the reason was not fashion, but a radical salafi approach.
Chadar still covers up a woman better than a scarf but I agree that a foriegn culture has been imported in the name of Islam. BTW I am not that much of a cultural patriot.

This author should be sent to say, Charsadda, for a year and he'll understand what racism is. When they'll call him coward, dhoti wearer, punjabi, joker, paan chewer, uncultured person farting in public, historic slave etc etc etc, only then will this piece of !@#$, attention seeker understand the reality of racism in Pakistan.

And Rawalpindi + Islamabad region is probably the least racist place in Pakistan considering every other ethnic group lives here(i.e. Kashmiri refugees, urdu speakers, gilgit-baltistanis, central Punjabis, Pashtuns, Hindkowans, alongside the native Potoharis), yet there are no riots and stuff like those in Karachi.

And by my personal experience, I can say that Punjabis(including Potoharis and Seraikis) and Hindkowans are the least racist people in all Pakistan.

Neither am I. My issue is with importing 'foreign' culture in the name of Islam as if without adopting that 'foreign' culture we were any less Muslims.

What nonsense, which city in Pakistan does not have Pathans?

And how about this for instance me being labelled a Punjabi in Peshawar, just because I cannot speak Pukhto, when I don't even belong to Punjab.

Peshawar education board in my times was so racist that they adopted a scheme to announce result latter and let Abbottabad board announce first, because we students were competing for same UETs and medical colleges, and by announcing result late they would give their students higher marks.
Living in Peshawar, studied in KMC, belonging to hazara haripur I Know that Punjabi racism is rare in Peshawar as city people in Peshawar are hindko speakers for centuries. I am sure what u said here is pretty much base less. Having spent my time in Lahore and Rawalpindi the people there do think of u being too much stupid ..

You should direct this question to posters like @Spring Onion whose allegiance towards Pakistan is doubtful and who see Pakistanis as black-faced and 'Indians' though I have yet to meet an Urdu speaker who introduces him/herself as 'Indian'. Afghans have destroyed the very fabric of Pakistani society through introducing drugs, weapons, smuggling, extortion, ransom, and above all extremism, not to mention how they have stolen jobs and businesses from Pakistanis. When I used to study, we had maybe 5% girls that used to cover their heads with scarves; I visited a few Universities in Islamabad in last December, and astonished to see that more than 50% girls were wearing head scarves and at-least 10% were donning veil (hiding their face). If that was in Islamabad, the situation in the other cities would be worst. I am not apposed to what someone likes to wear but only giving this example to show that Pakistan has changed ever since these barbarians were invited to live among us. Pakistan was a highly progressive and modern society pre-1979, and now look where we are standing. Curse on Zia for inviting stone -aged Afghans and destroying our beautiful country in the process of unholy Afghan Jihad (I call it fasad).
Racist Bhai, Afghan refugees have no impact and influence on univeristies of Islamabad.

Spring onion's sentiments are understandable, she is not talking about entire Mohajir community of yours but the criminals and terrorists of MQM, that they should also be deported back to India as they have links with RAW and are involved in hate crimes and had run hathora group in 80s, and introduced element of ethnic riots to the city. Nowadays MQM is running bhata mafia, target killing business, sectarian violence, , street crimes, kidnappings for ransom, black mailings land mafia etc. Pak army had no choice but to give up on them and set loose Rangers on their target killers.

Which school?
I have noticed the same in NWFP (now KPK) for I used to go up North for hiking and trekking every year. There indeed was (perhaps still is) resentment among the locals for Punjabis, it is unfortunate but true.

I am from Abbottabad hazara, studied from APS. And know very well what I am talking about. Though I have quite a Pathan company like chaddi friends because we lived our 6 years together in APS.

Then tell me what happened with straight firing at people in Abbottabad when they were protesting against change of name of NWFP and demanded their own province?

No this is NOT racism. I repeat my words BLACK FACED PUNJABI HARAMKHOR POLICE. And dont cheat by removing the word faced from my statement .

You MQM qala was offended at bhatakhor remark.

You did not host them Pakistan hosted them ;) we are also hosting mohajirs who are anti-pakistan so all anti-Pakistan elements including Afghans and Mohajirs should quit Pakistan. Only those who consider themselves Pakistanis can stay.

Mister or madame, by "black faced", you clearly implied and intended "dark skinned". Upper caste Punjabi themselves also discriminate against lower caste Punjabis by calling them black. The skin colour based bigotry is very casual in Pakistan.

But since you mentioned black faced, there's no clear cut "black and white" distinction between Punjabis and Pashtuns as such. You really need to educate yourself. I'm sure there are thousands of men in Northern Punjab, who are much lighter skinned than you.

 why you guys always link the word black with skin ?

anyway let me say fairy snow white faced haramkhor police so does it mean it would be less black corruption?

and dont be so much offended skin ton has nothing to do with my statement about harmkhor Punjabi police.

You can use the same wording for KPK police if you found them as blackface haramkhor as Punjab police in most of the cases

It is always funny how Indians have these wet dreams about Pakistanis wanting to separate from Pakistan... These Indians constantly put words in our mouths. Such a pathetic people. Goes to show how desperate these people are. Their obsession for Pakistan is beyond imagination.
They are just hurt coz Pakistan has its borders drawn over what they can only fantasize about being India :coffee: Since we carved their dreams they are trying to carve our land :tsk:

Come on, everyone here can tell what you really meant by "black faced". Denial wouldn't change the fact that your intention was racist, when you wrote such a word.

PS: And I'm not judging. I am no one to judge. Colour based bigotry is very casual in Pakistan. Tell the ordinary person from my village what he thinks about christians of Punjab(isaayi), and they'd use similar words very casually, calling them "kaalay chuhray".

You mean to say kala dhaba is racist way of calling Punjabis?

 well that is occasional spur. we people of Peshawar both Pukhtuns and Hindkowans may call you names like punjabyan only during exchange of hot words and personal fights; we even call Afghan Pashtuns as kabalyan or kabuljak in the same way so it has nothing to do with ethnicity but anger during any normal fight between people.

BTW we do not use word dhoti so you are either mistaken

And to put an end to this discussion, all of us Pakistanis are racist. There's no clear cut victim and oppressor here. The Pashtuns are racist against Punjabis and Urdu Speakers, the Baloch against Punjabis, the Sindhis against Pashtuns and Urdu speakers, the Urdu speakers against Punjabis and on and on and on.

With that said, the Pakistani racism is largely of a vocal and non-violent nature, unlike that in the west. In Pakistan, physically attacking someone because of their race is more or less non-existent, except for maybe in Karachi.

The author of the article was just seeking attention and trying to stir up a controversy.
