I don’t understand the level of hysteria, sure it’s a deadly virus that leaves people hospitalised and is particularly bad for immune compromised and elderly patients. But this thing has a fairly low mortality rate overall.

Flu kills multitudes more people every year in China alone, yet no one cares enough about influenza to follow basic hygiene protocols. Yet here people are in a panic. As if they’re all going to die unless evacuated.

This is what happens when there is fear! FEAR causes the brain to malfunction if it ever were active!

Either way, the feeling behind this decision is, China will give priority to its citizens and from the evidence emerging from China shows their medical professionals are overwhelmed by the influx of Chinese patients. The virus is already in India, we can effectively control an outbreak we have done it before in the dangerous Nipah outbreak.
And yes, to feel better than we didn't let our citizens in another country, to deal with it on their own.

They're from Wuhan, a city that's in lockdown. They can't travel to any other place, effectively in detention.
Indians in other parts of China are traveling to India already. Just yesterday a person arriving from China was sent to quarantine in my place. They don't need evacuation.

They're from Wuhan, a city that's in lockdown.

That is called quarantine...they would be treated in the same manner back in Pakistan only coz it is Pakistan they will make noise and not follow rules. China can better deal with them and quarantine them until needed!
