The real story is that, the Indians were trying to sneak to capture a strategic point. Chinese were waiting. Indians get ambushed on a ridge. Some jumped in to the river below to save lives. Some ran away to hide in the mountains.
Chinese hunted them down and killed them.
Two things are now becoming clear.

1- Indian's losses would be far higher than 20 declared until now.

2- Chinese losses reported by Indians are impossible. If your soldiers ran away to hide and jumped in the river below, how you are going to kill 43 Chinese soldiers!!
