Pakistan needs a revolution

My Dear Pak Friends,

You already had a revolution. It happened in 1947.

If you can only finish the first one in all honesty and with hard work...then alone a new revolution can take place if the first one has failed.

By the look of things your 'leaders' didn't even finish this first one. After Mr. Jinnah passed away everything went down hill...from governance to social development.

Revolutions are messy business and mostly bloody affair. There are/have been numerous threads here on PDF about the violence and mass murders of 1947.

As a Friend, I say, go back to the Original Vision of 1947 of Mr. Jinnah and find your path again.

In this age of Internet-of-Things there are far more cleverer ways to foster a compelling change.

The best revolution has to be Economic one.

Through economic growth can there be Social Development/Mass Education. And through true and quality education comes the Social Awareness and Justice.

As a Civlisational State you can become deserving inheritors of your Ancient Ancestors and propel your country and society towards prosperity and Respect from others.

Ask yourselves: Are we truly respected by others? What we need to do to achieve respect?

Respect is never given..it is earned.

Through economic developement and social/scientefic achievements respect is a given.

Wish the very best for your well deserved progress!

Please, avoid revolutions be it of social or religious kind.

Just elect some honest ones...if you have any.

only if people come out in the streets and not at any party's behest.
Sir your views on this post please,

No happening!! Not the chaos type ones!!!

Plus we have seen how in today's world of mass media control, manipulation via it, political dependencies and interests at international level, how any such misadventure of a "revolution" can be misguided to address the needs of "OTHERS" and not of that nation itself. We have seen it all across the Arab! Any such activity is hijacked by the big boys and the country is turned into a heap of trash.

No thank you, we are happy with slow and peaceful evolution for now.

If we want any revolution, it is in the mindset of EACH INDIVIDUAL, not at a national level but at a very basic personal level. That can work wonders for us.

Don't you think that people out on streets can easily be manipulated and the whole movement is hijacked? This have happened over and over again with the Arab states in last few years alone. Keeping how many ethnic groups and religions sects we have here, it will be catastrophic for the country i suppose.

Will love to know what you have to say about it. :)

We are in the soft revolution already, the way i see it.

I don't want to be hard over here, but people of Pakistan cannot bring any sort of revolution against the corrupt as they only think about themselves, only about their current day & not about the future. Where as the youth only thinks about how to move to Europe, US, Canada, Australia & etc.

IK & TUQ tried to bring the revolution but in a very controlled way plus both of them were not on the same page & were scared of what will happen as a result they backed off & trusted the same people whom they did not trust.

.
A Martial Law is not a revolution; it is simply a regime change through force of arms but with minimal bloodshed.
Any successful revolution needs a ruthless ideological movement with followers willing to kill en mass to impose their ideology on the masses. Most recent example was the Iranian revolution

In my humble opinion the possible revolution, if you could call it a revolution could be the takeover of Pakistan by Daish /ISIS.

Apologies for interjecting on a subject that's technically ' Out of bounds ' for a non Pakistani.

My views :

I beats comprehension how & why do the people of nation allow themselves to be led astray. Further to what @Arsalan & @fatman17 have written below, a revolution is needed .Not like the French revolution and / or the kind that happened in Egypt but in the minds of the electorate. Now that elections are predictable in Pakistan ,the voter needs to demand progress & change.

Despite all its failings, the Indian democracy has established one thing at National level ( & regional levels too barring some states) that the young voter is fed up with status quo. If Modi does not perform & meet aspirations he will perish. Despite corruption & nepotism , parties having gauged the mood of the young voters are making efforts to create jobs, education .

Every penny the politician makes is out of out taxes, he must be made accountable on how & where he spends it.

Nations in our part of the world need to reject those who have made an industry of religion & hate. How long can we remain stuck in the old mold ? Does the Kashmir issue create jobs or development ? If not then it can be parked aside to be addressed later. This applies to both sides. Nations do not develop through emotions but through hard work.

Politicians love to lead the people astray by playing to two things - Religion & emotions.

Pakistan needs a generation of new politicians.

When a nation gets new voters who think differently & demand change, Politicians do change albeit slowly & become accountable.

If we want any revolution, it is in the mindset of EACH INDIVIDUAL, not at a national level but at a very basic personal level. That can work wonders for us.

Our vote is currency - hard cash to a political party, dont we get the best bang for our buck in daily lives ? Why then should a voter squander his / her vote to a party that does not deliver ?

only if people come out in the streets and not at any party's behest.

Yes, awareness is the first step to getting what we deserve.

Problems:

1.) The military failed horribly at governing the country. Mush was our last best hope. He had advantages that no politician will ever have and could have done aggressive and revolutionary grassroots reform across institutions. Instead, he surrounded himself with cronies, became America's bitch, allied with a corrupt party in Punjab (Q) and a terrorist mafia in Karachi (MQM). The global economy was doing great and America was pumping in the dollars because of 9/11 and their invasion of Afghanistan. It wasn't any brilliance on his team's part. His PM, an import, left the country right after and started working for an Indian business magnate. Pathetic. Will never forgive either of them.

2.) The majority of the "new generation of politicians" consists of spoilt children of the current ruling elite. I know many of them personally and, trust me, you don't want them in power.

3.) We have generally failed to build a national spirit and culture of civic sense and duty. Sure, August 14 is full of festivity on the streets --- festivity consisting of hooliganism, harassment and vulgarity. How about getting together and celebrating within bounds of decency, cleaning the streets, helping those in need, etc.?

4.) There is a huge brain drain. The top institutions (civil service, intel, R&D, etc.) are proving incapable of competing with the global private sector in attracting the best talent. Of course pays are better in the private sector, but this hasn't stopped the CIA and Mossad to hire its brightest university graduates.

5.) Any revolution generally swells on the basis of public grievances, and is often led by the educated middle class. Pakistanis barely come out on the streets to protest their grievances (unless it's mullahs pissed about some draconian law). The vast majority of the middle class that I have interacted with is totally sold to the West (cultural imperialism). I wish they would get the West's hard-work and meritocratic principles and not just the dress sense, hyper-commercialism and party life.

Good luck with the revolution. The only hope is in angelic individuals who somehow manage to put together a secret society strong enough to bring violent justice onto all traitors --- in the Army, in politics, in the judiciary, in the business community --- across the board.

Nations either evolve or revolt, those who fail in both are bound to perish....

Specifically in our case I don't see any revolution because we are evolving though pace is very slow; one can argue with this conjecture, but this is what my observation is ....

More than anything, Pakistan needs to evolve an effective de-radicalization policy and implement it persistently .. An entire generation has been "brainwashed" as a result of the State sponsored religious chauvinistic indoctrination via distortion (for the last few decades) in Pakistan ...

We need Revolutionary changes brought about by Renaissance and Reformation ... An enlightened gradual Renaissance ....... Bottom up ... Not a Revolution ...

Evolution is slow and continues process. Nature evolves and nations too. Our democratic system is evolving and it is good sign.

Agreed. And as i said earlier, we are in that soft revolution already. Changes are incremental but street protests, independent Judiciary movement, anti-corruption movement, free media (although a large part is for sale), a dictator removed through democratic ways and now a strong opposition are all having a positive impact on the public and the mindsets. It is also important to note that Establishment is not backing any horse per se anymore and that's due to a battle hardened army where jawans have laid down their lives for the country and top brass have no choice but to pay attention to the soldiers and not repeat mistakes of past top brass.

People are sick of the ways of the past and that's bringing in changes without a bloody revolution. But saying that, we've lost 70k+ lives, that's more than enough blood for a nation to learn harsh lessons.

I agree with you, Pakistanis need to stop moving overseas. Although I'm in Canada, I would like to return to Pakistan one day permanently.
