Hazara province..right
Karachi province..wrong
Its not about who's right and who's not. Its about whats good for the nation.
What is good for the nation, provinces on ethnic basis?
you are suggesting something along County system in UK? Because that is what i would like to haveI think giving the example of Switzerland is bit more difficult (not right) when you see the cantons of Switzerland were sovereign states before merging into Federation (One Unit). What I don't like about Switzerland is, their law keeps changing from canton to another and their example of similar to US States or one bad example is FATA in Pakistan may be. They were not divided by any entity which we ask from Pakstan. They were historically separate states and merged with distinguished principles still in place (although they matter very little). Just like Venice was merged into Italy or Hong Kong now in China.
I want to see one law for all the Pakistanis (unlike Switzerland) and the concept of separate provinces be limited to only for administrative cause.
You have more provinces competing against each other for the sake of better governance when you have more provinces. Each provincial government would want to go ahead from each other resulting in major growth, economic boom and stability. Having more provinces is a very good choice but we need to make sure we are not dividing the people in the race of separating provinces. You go to Geneva and you go to Zurich, you feel like you have travelled to two separate (peaceful) but different nations.
I dont see how are we going to do that when waderas themselves are ruling the country and sitting in the upper and lower houses.
If every unit will have it's own Chief minister , staff and a cumbersome beaurocracy then HELL NO!Seems like a good idea - so rather than dividing the country on ethnic basis, why not abolish the borders - present it as single unit, and than we can have 35 Counties on administrative units?
Every unit will have to generate its own revenue, its own police force.
Laws in Pakistan dates back to 1880s, and they are already confusing enough, firearm to rape cases, every law is poorly defined, even if we manage to bring reforms and amend the current laws it will be good enough.Yara, it's a good idea.... I went through your and @Zakii's posts...... I, mostly agree with both of your views, however, with a little bit twist.... for example zakii mentioned "one law" for all...... I don't think that's practical....... that's the main bone of contention here anyways...... why not have some sort of "modular" law? Look at our present justice system, it has become totally impractical (at least for the masses).......
Furthermore, to totally get rid of feudal (not same as wadera), you need to bring in land reforms and effective taxation.... not something akin to what Z.A. Bhutto did, but something more sophisticated.
And who will administrate it?
