This is imran khans idea, He been telling about this since last five years. Its a good idea, Pakistan should have more provinces on administrative basis and not on linguistic basis and ethnicity. This will change the whole governess system.

This is not right time for provinces.... We know about dirty politics in our country... How PPPP, PMLN . ANP created Provinces issue on Kala Bagh dam in Musharaf era.
In Future they will even fight for smaller dams...
Don't provide any province to MQM. As Altaf hussain cannot come in Pakistan due to murder cases/charges.. So all he want separate country.... and to rule other country....... If you give one province to MQM, then it means you are providing new country on their plate....

Only way is to wait for next election for honest leadership in power......... or else we need revolution .....

Seems like a good idea - so rather than dividing the country on ethnic basis, why not abolish the borders - present it as single unit, and than we can have 35 Counties on administrative units?
Every unit will have to generate its own revenue, its own police force.

Bro, could you provide an English translation?

Over the top of my head though- new administrative zones if made intelligently can boost governance efficiency and provide a host of associated benefits. BUT such moves will always face resistance, specially from larger provinces which have a disproportionate power in terms of representation and economic clout.

Pakistan has 35 administrative divisions Divisions of Pakistan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - The proposal is to give them the provincial status, so better administration can take place and the elite cant rule over big chunks of territory.

For instance, i would have to travel 400kms to Lahore, in order to get some approval that needs to be done by the provincial govt. Why would i have to do it when i can do the same thing in my own city ?

Its about administrative problems and red tape. The purpose of the provinces is to provide better govt and make people's lives easy not hard.

Indeed we need much more provinces... At least 5-6 provinces from Punjab, four from Sindh, four from Balochistan and 4 from KP and FATA

If we have 190 million strong population why not 19 provinces? (Not practical as the population increases but 10 million is already a large province) Or if the land size of balochistan is too large to control by one government... How about dividing in 4? We need at least 18-30 provinces in the country for better governance or otherwise raise the status of existing divisions to provincial level

In UK we have boroughs and such system works superbly

the idea revolves around decentralization , devolution of power. For decisions to be Divisional head will not have to wait for notification from Home Secretary or rely on funds from CM sahab. each division can set up its own anti corruption cells, they will have to fund and recruit their own police force, Education will come under their rule.

Oh my friend, every time similar topic is discussed, we have to cope with the same questions again and again.

One good way to eliminate ethnic violence is to never divide them on the basis of ethnicities. Although it is not a bad idea to keep this in mind while dividing many parts of the country. For example if 90% of the ethnic group goes in one province and the remaining 10% divided in other province is not fair if they share the same geographical boundary. But more provinces needs to be based on the administrative basis more than anything else.

Let me give you one example. We have 4 High Courts in Pakistan right now excluding Islamabad. One High Court for each province. Imagine you have 20 provinces and 20 different full high courts for each province? We have millions of pending cases in the country which can be sorted out far more quickly if more of such courts are made in the country. We have only 35 Judges in Lahore High Court? and that is the highest court of the province (of course not counting Supreme Court). But if Punjab for example was divided in 4 parts.. .You have four highest courts doing the same job. So the workload is divided. If I am living in Sargodha or Multan, I wouldn't have to travel to Lahore for anything. I can sort every matter out within my local area. Each government headquarter will be established in my local area and that will also help curtail corruption. (You travel Lahore and spend 1000 rupees in transportation cost, you reach there and they say give us 1000 rupees bribe and we do your job otherwise come back again tomorrow. If you are to only travel locally you say ok i come back tomorrow)

You have one budget for Punjab and it is upon the CM to invest where he wants to invest. He might opt to invest 80% of the budget only in Lahore or it's surrounding areas. But if you divide the province in 4 parts. You have 4 separate budgets and the share of budget will be injected in 4 separate parts of the existing province, hence more chances of better growth for the whole province.
