What's new

Pakistan Navy will get 4 more F-22Ps

its not too short dear plus we can replace those missiles i see there is lot of space at that place where missiles are installed
i think u will visit those ships when you get it like last time ..... kaise ho aajkal?

.
f22p is excellent combat frigate ... SAM'S are going to be upgraded that is for sure but not 180km and Type 054 is another negotiation where as f22p 4 additional were already aim of pak navy

. .
Umm, why waste money on the short range SAM equipped ships? Why not up the level to medium range SAMs?

:hitwall:

The tonnage is too low at 3000 tons. Its a light frigate. If they increase tonnage to about 4000 tons they can equip with more sensors, radars and consequently more effective SAM systems.Yes hq-16 which is basically the chinese variant of the shtil/buk-m1 air defence complex would be a potent system.

ya relatively PN is a coastal navy but they are inducting new equipments and strengthening their navy they have 11 frigates now 6 of them old Amazon class and 1 OHP if new F22 are replacement then its ok but still i think they should induct 4000+ tonnage ship .

In due time, my friend ! For now these Frigates, the Azmat Class Patrol Boats/FACs and the many Jalat Class Missile Boats give us a pretty decent punch in above-surface fleet ! Who knows maybe the next acquisition would be one of those Type 54Bs; but the point is a certain progression is to be maintained and we're gaining momentum slowly in leading up to that tonnage !

Hi,

Please read my post again. I said why waste money on Short range SAM ships, as in, why waste money on more F-22Ps? We should get bigger ships with advance air defense. I did not say that why not upgrade SAMs on F-22p in their current displacement.

Well we don't have confirm report but these F22p might be different from the previous F22p. They might be upgraded F22p with better armament and radars. They might have greater displacement too. As our previous CNS once said.

“Type 054A is a bigger ship than F22P, but we may not acquire 054, but we need to upgrade F22P, to become closer to 054,” Admiral Noman Bashir said.

He said F22P can be modified to become closer to Type 054A, but not exactly like that. Pakistan Navy is discussing with Chinese counterparts about its future frigate upgrading program.

Pakistan needs more F-22Ps, not Type 054A

Just my two cents.

Getting more F22P's is an excellent idea....they shold follow it as soon as possible to strengthen their Naval force.....:smokin:

There is a spectacular review of f-22p by Usman Ansari. Have you read that ?.

Till 5th grade I used to ride tricycles. When my last tricycle became unrepairable, I request my Dad to bought me a new one. He said, 'come
on you had enough with this childs play' and bought me a bicycle. I fell in love with it.

Can you please post a link or at least point me in its direction ?
Sorry I cannot..since I'm using a mobile. Please search by 'usman ansari' u will get that. Its in the front page, second article.

I have no issue with PN going for more F22p if these one would be fitted with a better SAM like HQ-16.

I personally feel these won't be the same F22p's in fact they would be something bigger but would be based on present F22p frigate. Something around 4000 tons displacement. As our former CNS said.

Pak China cooperation in building submarines, bigger ships war identified: Admiral Noman | The Nation

yes but that was meant for type 54.
but now they're going for these, reason is given in the article. "Its relatively cheap".

.
its still unclear where they will built these ships.
It said (in translation) 'to be built in Pakistan'

PN needs 4000+ tonnage ships.
Why, what for? Dutch navies e.g. has managed all around the globe with frigates under 4000 tons (Speijk, Kortenaer, Doorman classes)

Do not think so ... We are a coastal force mate ... Primary objective being " Sea denial "
If truely a coastal force, then also no need for F22P....
