It was "forced" up to periscope depth, the sub captain showed his arse, in effect he surrendered. Basically the guys in the air gave him no choice.

Methods exist - a practiced one is to do a direct flyover at 100ft (usually done at times to confirm a submarine with the magnetic anomaly detector) so that the submarine’s sonar officer goes deaf with the sound of 4 turboprop engines and his captain has no choice but to get out of there.

Because if that is not heeded the IN does have trained crews that know the next thing coming is a torpedo.

In theory, Pakistan could torpedo that sub and have it sink and claim no knowledge of the incident regardless of the Indians crying foul. Because they would have to then admit they were trespassing which would reduce the merit of their usual sanctimonious hypocrisy.

Here are the two on surface. Kilo class sail is quite large as compared to Scorpene.

Kilo class.
Snorkel, optronics and the 2 periscopes in the front. All widely spaced.

Scorpene. 3 mast closely spaced to each other. Obviously they are deployed independently
