ISLAMABAD / SIALKOT: Pakistan on Saturday lodged a protest with India over the killing of a Pakistani by Indian border security forces for inadvertently crossing the Working Boundary.

According to a statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first secretary of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad was summoned to the Foreign Office and a protest was lodged.

Amanat Ali was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) across Shakargarh on the Working Boundary on Friday. The Foreign Office condemned the BSF’s violation of Border Ground Rules.

On Friday, Ali was harvesting wheat in a border village in Shakargarh sector of Sialkot Working Boundary.

According to senior officials of the Chenab Rangers, Amanat Ali (40) of Sariya Kothey-Shakargarh village was busy in wheat harvesting along with other local farmers in the fields close to the Sialkot Working Boundary.

The Indian BSF around 1 pm handed over his body to Punjab Rangers in Shakargarh sector of Sialkot Working Boundary.

The grieved family, heirs and local people staged an anti-India protest for the killing. They held up banners and placards inscribed with slogans against India.

They said the Indian BSF had violated the international border laws and shot dead an innocent Pakistani after dragging him into Indian territory from Zero Line.

:o::o::o:
were was rangers and pak army when BSF dragged the body of a farmer!!!?? the title should be like this"Pakistan lodges protest with India over killing of a terrorist near LOC" these pak media always forget that the indo pak border is so well fenced that it is very difficult to cross.. the only place where fencing is not provided is in rivers.

My teacher once told this summoning of officials is nothing but withdrawal of certain amenities that embassy personnel's are offered...

Like for example in this case
  1. The Indian First Secretary would have been left alone in the room without any A.C, Tea, biscuits etc... and since you are not allowed to take your mobile phones he would have felt very uneasy or uncomfortable for 2-3 hours which is the main intention of such protests/Summoning.
  2. Common courtesies like an equivalent rank official meeting him at the entrance would not have happened.
  3. After the "Punishment" period he would have been told of the scenario and told to take care of it...
Thus after the 3rd stage the summoning ends... and he would have left for home or in this case The Indian embassy...

.
Protest is not enough... and neither is working.
bring Musharraf, he knows how to make bold maneuvers.

. . .
Probably a terrorist. A man being dragged across the border make little sense.

Protest is not enough... and neither is working.

Yup do bring him back, you'd first have to get him back into your country.

. .
Why did the BSF handover the body? if this farmer was just working on his field? very suspicious!

Full of Contradictions ain't it?

If the farmer had inadvertently crossed over into Indian side of LOC, then why did BSF need to violate international border, shoot him and then drag his body back to Indian side?

Islamabad:Pakistan lodged a protest with India over the alleged killing of an unarmed civilian who according to Pakistani officials had inadvertently crossed the border to the Indian side.

Amanat Ali was cutting wheat in his field in Shakargarh at the Working Boundary on Friday when he stepped across the border and was killed by the Indian troops, according to Pakistan Rangers.

Pakistan Foreign office said a protest has been lodged with India over the incident.

"First Secretary of Indian High Commission was summoned to ministry of foreign affairs to lodge protest over killing of an unarmed Pakistani inadvertent crosser," Foreign Office Spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam tweeted.

"Pakistan strongly condemns BSF's violation of Border Ground Rules. Firing at an unarmed civilian demonstrated the intent to kill. India must respect lives of civilians and refrain from such provocations," she said.

Well they proudly kill civilians and then call it "a befitting response".

It doesn't matter to me whether they believe it or not... though they really should use their mind in analysing the "SUMMONING" as they say.... because you can't berate an official of the embassy, the best you can do is make is "Summoning" period uncomfortable...
