Its actually a deal... US want India to do their work "Containment of China". I have met many Americans in past couple of months esp those which are well connected with the US mil industry or defense affairs, they were literally making fun/laugh on Indian military and Indian government.
Majority of them actually surprised the way India responded to Pak aggression (sitting duck when PAF shot down their aircraft and their naval submarine detected by the Pakistan Navy). Indian forces got massive humiliation in front of the world and the story later which they have made "F-16 shot down" actually done the remaining "last nail in coffin" kinda stuff for India. I was bit surprised that the news of 27th Feb was actually got so much popularity btw Americans who have interest in defense affairs (its reflect the Pentagon and US Govt interest in Pak/Indo affairs as well).
Quite frankly, they were surprised the way Indian military power exposed "bluff-out" military supremacy, deterrence against Pakistan by Pakistan on 27th Feb. I was also surprised to see their appreciation and positive vibes about PAF and Pakistan military power in modern warfare. The real problem which hurts or changed the perception of many Americans and Canadian was Indian military power projection in the west. That projection was artificially made by the American and Indian media both something like India is a big power, India is getting massive weapons from the western countries, India has most advance weaponry system in the world bla bla, Pak can't do anything now against India.
This news "Pakistan targeted Indian military installations", any sane person who has understanding of this literally ......... a small country airforce actually went into "Super power" (funny expression but thats what Indian trying to sell this label from past 10 years), got fukedup in the broad day light I mean... I met US marine officer in Toronto few months ago and he literally "L O L" on Indian. He told me that he had long discussion with his colleagues (obviously from US forces) they were surprised and commanders in US armed forces in general confused about India's mil power against China after 27th Feb event.
I have met many Indians who bash Modi regime especially after the balakot Drama (few in my current company as well). They didn't believe anything "Indian Airforce strike fairy-tale stories". In general, Sikh community (specially) doesn't like India that's what I have got this impression from majority. Many Indians openly accepted their defeat unlike Indian living in India. They have no idea about how they got humiliated on 27th Feb in front of the world.
Anyway back to the topic, American realized way back that India has mentality of obsession with Pakistan. They are obsess with Pakistan more than anything else. They want to become a global power like China, Russia, France, UK and US but they limit themselves into obsession which actually exposed their nature (they can't run world affairs). Remember back in Obama's era, their were massive discussion in the US Govt and opposition to support India for Permanent seat but later after Modi came into power and the way he is running the regional affairs and policies, that discussion for India is no more anywhere (Govt nor in Pentagon).
If you can offer anything to India in advance of hurting Pakistan (sanctions, blockade of def deals etc), they will agree to do anything. So American in particular realized that until unless we will not pressurize Pakistan to take actions or do some formality work against India's designated so called terrorist, India won't do our work the way we (Americans) want.
American forgot that in Pakistan no more their puppet regime govt (Nawaz Sharif). Khan is beyond American's control. They can do somehow arm twisting through IMF and FATF but technically, majority in Pentagon does not want this. They want long-term, sustainable relations with Khan Govt because in front of them, Khan is a hard man with different objectives. He is very patriotic so obvious for Americans to play games with his Govt esp he has strong support from GHQ.
Khan successfully prove this as well btw bargain. Pakistan gotcha good deal which actually surprised Indian because India is continuously using BLA in Baluchistan against Pakistan. Pakistan agreed to push Hafiz Saeed into the global terror list and in response want US to put BLA in to the global terror outfit. India was completely out of this discussion in this regard & not even aware about anything (US decision regarding BLA).
Pakistan indirectly gain more than India because max Pakistan can ban Hafiz Saeed which technically did not put any significant impact, where as Pakistan successfully ban BLA (push into terror group through US). Might be you guys noticed that India is not happy on banning of Hafiz Saeed they actually lost the game... watch out bigger picture... good readiness Pakistan!
