Pakistan in 1960 - Video from 1954; Page 4

There are so many beautiful places in Pakistan that can literally become tourist heaven but unfortunately our people are not utilizing the potential.

Yep, thats true. You know the law is, Loose some to get some!

I know that if we allow casinos and bikinis etc, it will not be an Islamic move but it sure will create employment, new business, infrastructure etc

.
Ferry service from Gwadar to Dubai! Seven star hotel along the coastline of Balochistan. Think about the revenues and employment we will generate. We have have have to allow certain things in order to get tourists!

Make a certain area of coastline like Cuba!!!!! Caribbean Islands!!!

Like the idea about a "Tourist" strip on Gwadar. The only problem is that the BLA would come running with their soviet made recoil-less rifles, grenades, IEDs and RPGs.

First you have to provide a sense of security before asking someone to invest in your land. Unfortunately in Baluchistan, that sense of security is going down the drain everyday. The hotels and resorts made for the Chinese Workers/Employees in Gawadar have been targeted quite a few times by the BLA.

P.S Please don't specifically suggest the Bikini's as an important tool for us to progress. Makes us sound like desperate for revenue (Which we are but there's a thing called self-respect)

Yes, BezerK it is a big hurdle. However, if we get a leader like Imran Khan and can come up with an effective strategy to counter insurgency than there is no reason not to shine like the U.S. or developed like Germany.

My two cents!

PM (Imran Khan) goes to Balochistan to adress Balochis. It is mandatory for all the Balochis to attend or at least their true representatives--PM outlines the future plans to create employment, education, infrastructure (desalination plants) etc While, secret service should eliminate BLA forever. It is not that easy but it is possible. I think the only thing normal Balochis are lacking is a person who will lead them. Of course, I can be wrong in my assessment.

When the Balochis will see something constructive, their support for BLA will diminish. However, secret ops are inevitable.

What about moral values? Their is strong need to build our nation's moral and ethical values. See Sialkot incident! Corruption from top to bottom. Every person who has power, no matter what, is indulged in corruption.
Honest are those who don't have power.

that days no one even see in his dream that pakistan will become sucide peradise and taliban will be some thing. or moroons like zardari will presedent. damn old days

Woow that was a good video! for sure there was so called economic boom in 1960's and we weren't far behind the west in those days & for certain time period our economy was growing at 21% per year the most higher then every other country!:woot:

Now we must think positive as we have gained many things and achieved many goals in these last years till now date beside this we have also missed many goals too but it's not too late we can still recover. lets hope for the best. First of all we need a drastic change in our leadership, i will suggest to eliminate completely all these corrupt persons from all these parties: PPP, PML (N), PML (Q), MQM, ANP, Molvi parties etc. (but with doing all this we will realise that there is no person left in these parties!)

so it's better for us to choose new young leaders and give oppurtunity to them.

I m not a Zia fan but with any leader ruling then ,Soviet Union's might just a few Kilometers from Pakistan Border with clear intentions beyond Afghanistan , It would make him sleepless . While Zia could have done alot better odds were clearly against him and he had to resort to using Gorillas in Afghanistan to fight Soviets . His concern was both the eastern and western flanks of Pak could turn into a war zone . He had to keep Indian troops at bay on the east by keeping strong presence of PAK troops while he fought Soviets with Afghan militia . We owe our existance to Afghanistan 's brave souls . Thanks Mujahiddin . Those who were martyred may their sould rest in Peace ..amen
what?:thinktank:

The problem with Pakistan is the politicalization and radicalization of Islam and its introduction to its public domain. Whenever religion takes the upperhand in the society, it f***s up the country.Europe had the same experience during the dark ages.
I sincerely hope Pakistan can reign in their Jihadi elements and become another Turkey. This is the best for Pakistan's as well as the whole Southasia's future.

You won't get your Pakistan for the foreseeable future but rest assured and give us guys 10 years and we will hand the Talibs their ***** and bid them farewell in a manner fitting their pathetic existence. Then you can hope to get your Pakistan back, my Pakistan back, the Pakistan where all were equal, nobody was a murtad, where people were famous for hospitality and not for cold bloodedness. Rest assured, those days are coming ! When suicide bombings will be a thing of the past and minorities will be safe, tourists were flock to Pakistan again and we will welcome them with open arms.........InshAllah !

i think the biggest hurdle that Pakistan faces and which could also be called the base line for nearly all its problems is what Ayub predicted at that time ..he said "we must control the population of Pakistan or one day Pakistani will eat another Pakistani"
in a sense isnt that what we are seeing today ?

But why listen to an ignorant Field Marshal when an enlightened illiterate mullah says to make as many children as humanely possible, and keeping making them until the old ones start dying from neglect. What does a field marshal know ?(Sarcasm)

What gone wrong with us? Why we gradually deriorated is still a mystery for me!
Consider:

The richer Pakistan became, the more riches there were for the corrupt to steal. Furthermore, as Pakistan became more of an economic success, its leaders sought to assert themselves and their country politically. That meant going to war with India seeking Kashmir as a prize. (These roots were, in part, religious, and in part due to India's unjust and obnoxious seizure of the province. ) War with India had the additional advantage of keeping the focus of the public away from what Pakistani civilian leaders were up to - raiding public funds and manipulating the government (real estate, education, justice system, executive, and legislature) to their own enrichment and advantage.

That doing so meant screwing Pakistan's defensive-pact allies, killing a lot of Pakistani citizens in glory-seeking conflict, and weakening the Constitution and rule-of-law meant little in comparison. After all, what good were laws to corrupt officials if it kept them from stealing? It even made sense to let half the country split away if once could keep one hands on the remaining remnant of wealth and power. Keep the populace mostly illiterate, throw in more Islamism to keep people from understanding what is going on, and you've got it made.

Do you guys know Pakistan had one of the Top Ship breaking and a good ship making Industries, had we kept that pace and investment without corruption it would have been today a multi-billion dollars industry alone with over $10 billion Yearly revenue generation, thanks to zia/musharraf followed by civilian parties.

.
who needed shipping industry and many more when the "en lighted Awam" wanted Roti kapra our makan ...yay Buthoo !!

That's pretty much been PPP policy since day 1, screw the factories, get in the worker's good books. However, they fail each time because they do not understand that the worker HAS to go to a factory to earn money, you can give him all the incentives you want, but if he's not earning, he's not happy.
It's a pretty simple equation:

1)Factory+Worker+Incentives=:yahoo:
OR
2)Workers+Incentives-Factories=Unemployment, suicide, high crime rate.
