Pakistan hires lobbying firm in US capital

what happens when india also hire similar firm for lobbying against us by paying more money to them then this firm will please which party
Should be treated as a expense similar to military hardware upkeep. Unfortunately US lobbying firms are now a necessity to ensure India doesnt push its anti Pakistan agendas. Not only foreign policy matters but we can gain trade concessions and access to markets to boost our exports.

The amount needed to be spent on these lobbying firms is peanuts compared to what the FO spends on visits and can be made up via the austerity measures from the cost cutting in trip expense.

a very good start keep it up . government is taking right step

.
then there is no need for embassy and army of staff there if you need to hire outsiders for their job:disagree:

Hiring lobbying firms is not a ethical practice and shouldnt be encouraged but has become a majboori for any FO to survive and get its objectives done in US.

There are multiple lobbying firms, they give boost to your interests but at the end its luck as well, if they are fighting for genuine reasons its a sure win else waisting money for short gains. This is not a new practice and going on for ages, Pakistan has used lobbying firms in past as well. When you hire a firm there is a contract and period. Its upto FO and they will probably add a exclusivity clause and non conflict of interest. If firm gets more money from India, they will have to breach contract and bare the penalty, but it will hurt their brand in long run as future business will be weary about their loyalty. A firm will usually wait for contract to expire jumping opposing sides.

Hussain Haqqani and co are minting money in form of creating negative propaganda against Pakistan, they will be getting funding covertly from India and it's hired firms. We have been late but hiring our own lobbying firms will be a counter strategy to neutralize them as well.

need them to make FOs work easier. Can't hand completely as will be treason for them.

Similar to how some of our ex ministers were getting paid by foreign country payrolls to boost contracts in their favor.

Guys watch this movie called "MISS SLOANE"
Its about a lobbyist who the Senate plan to bring down as she threatens them with her successful lobbying. Her famous quote
"lobbying is about foresight, about anticipating your opponents moves and devising counter measures, the winner plots one step ahead of the opposition, and plays a trump card just after they play theirs"

i thought Pakistan already have a strong lobbyist in the USA. Quiet surprised to read we had none for the past 6 years. I know its expensive and they will milk your money but great nation of Pakistan with 220 million people cannot afford a lobbyist doesnt make any sense. Lobbyist is very good to push your agenda, propaganda and your point of view. Yes we have our embassy and foreign minister but you also need a lobbyist firm. If your opponent has one then you'll definitely need one. If your opponent travels on private jet then you need a private jet, if your opponent stays at 7 star hotel then you'll need to do the same in order to interact with other foreign ministers and their tteam. You cannot be a hero and stay at your embassy room whilst all other nations are staying and interacting at a 7 *

These things cost millions and a nation of 220 million people need to do this. It doesnt have to be the same with all the countries but countries like USA, Russia, China, UK, France, Germany. We definitely need a strong team working at the highest level.

People thinking Nawaz Shareef dumb are in fact themselves the dumbest gullible creatures...simply idiots and deserve everything bad that has happened to them in the past 40 years.

Nawaz & Zardari are two of the most evil minds. They raked up billions of dollars, fooled & ruled the nation of dumbs for past 30-40 years continuously together, blackmailed your state and established links with the powerful anti-state lobbies or turned them into anti-state lobbies and still some idiots think they are dumb. State institution still have no clue about the total looted wealth by the duo and less the evidence. They systematically destroyed country's institutions, maligned and weakened the state.

That's the failure of the people to recognise the actual disease and hence we have not been able to get rid of the mafia. You can't cure a disease if you can't even diagnose it.

My goodness how and why was this idiot voted into power so many times?
Too many voters in Pakistan still vote on the basis of feudal and tribal loyalties, biradri'ism. That is why these people keep getting re-elected. Essentially most of the electorate do not understand where their own interests lie.

Because he was not an idiot. Only the ones who voted for him are idiots but the bigger idiots are those who think he is an idiot. He is an evil person. You can't cure a disease if you can't even diagnose it.

A contract was signed by embassy representatives and Tom Reynolds, a former Republican congressman from New York who represented the top lobbying firm.

Tom Reynolds is NOT a good choice for a lobbyist.

"On March 20, 2008, Reynolds announced he would not run for a sixth term: "it was time to take up new challenges". Aside from fallout from the scandal regarding U.S. Representative Mark Foley (R-FL), another factor was thought to be revelations that a former NRCC treasurer[who?] had embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from the committee treasury while Reynolds chaired it.[8] According to the New York Daily News political reporter Elizabeth Benjamin, the NRCC was never independently audited during Reynolds' three-year tenure as its chairman.[9]

Reynolds was the 29th Republican incumbent to announce he would not run again in 2008. Despite the perception that Reynolds had the district redrawn to protect him, it is actually a somewhat marginal district on paper; it has a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R+3.[citation needed]

In 2017, Reynolds joined Washington, D.C. lobbying firm Holland and Knight as a senior policy advisor. [10]

You should have a read at what the Indian lobby is doing already and every little bit of it needs to be countered.
