Nice percentage increase year over year but it could be so much better.

The entire focus of the economic team should be on lowering the undocumented percentage of the economy. Pakistanis have a significant amount of cash that never becomes part of the system. This cash needs to be brought in and taxed, as is the norm around the world. A few notes to consider:
  • Pakistan has one of the lowest tax-to-GDP ratios in the world, similar to countries like Ethiopia and Afghanistan.
  • Tax evasion is rampant among traders, businessmen and politicians.
  • In a country of 180 million, fewer than 800,000 people paid their taxes last year.
  • We don't need MORE taxes, we just need people to pay the current ones.
We're on the right path, something that i have been saying for months, but are only scratching the surface at this point.

Such news are utter nonsense. What do they mean for a common man? NOTHING !
Actually, it means that there are more job opportunities now than there were last year, at least indirectly.
