Pakistan faces 26/11 everyday: Mani Shankar Aiyar

Aiyar said, "We have just one 26/11 but people living in Pakistan face 26/11 situation everyday. They have a risk of life be it on 24, 25, 26 or any day of the calendar. People there fear going to the market or masjid as they don't know whether they will come back home alive or not.''

He said though Pakistan was the biggest source of terrorism, the reality was that it was also the biggest victim.

Extremely sad and ironical.. but true nonetheless.. A prime example of a vicious downward spiral with no end.....

Ya... But we don't send dossiers to the terrorists.. We bomb their caves..

considering that the dossiers you are referring to were sent to the govt of Pakistan, are you trying to call Pakistan a country of terrorists ???

. . .
Yes but Aiyar forgot to mention that 26/11's that Pakistanis face does not emanate from India, big difference. But you can't expect more from these spineless congressis. They d love the Indian public to just forget incidents like 26/11 and move on, cause that makes their job of doing fck all much easier.

You must think he is addled to have 'forgotten' to mention that. He did not.

Everybody knows that the attackers came from Pakistan, even the Pakistanis, other than the snot-nosed school boys who hang around this forum. It has nothing to do with spineless congressis, or with double- or triple-spined jan sanghis, but with common sense to deal with a practical situation as it is, rather than sitting and sulking in silence.

To move on does not mean to lose track, or to forget; it means to get one's act together, and to wait for the opportunity to act when the opportunity arises.

i would love an elaboration . Thank You .

Dmitri? Oh, that's our little pet ice-wolf - you know, wolf with cold feet, the kind that snaps and snarls, but is essentially harmless, even slightly Dim - hence the name.

They created it and getting the back the fruits.

The common people didn't. The common people are suffering. The guilty live in elaborate comfort guarded by layers of military security.

That was vintage Dmitri. Cut him some slack. He had a difficult time growing up.

Isn't that exactly what we have been doing so far? We keep moving on, only to be rudely interjected by yet another carnage, courtesy of you know who. Its evident that this meek policy has never worked, and still not working, so why should Indians stick with it?

Whatever is going on in Pakistan is not our concern, not our mess. And it should not be used as an excuse to cut them slack, specially when they have done absolutely nothing to stem the menace that affects India and Indians.

And you have a better programme to suggest? Most alternatives suggested are hilariously implausible - bomb the training camps, mount a military attack, cut off relations with the Pakistanis - no visas, no travel, no cultural exchange, no trade - and the like.

What is your solution, btw?

Pakistan is burning in the fire it started for destroying India. Does it mean we should be sympathic to Pakistan.
Bet had Mani Shankar's kids died in 26\11 we would n't have the same ideas about Pakistan.

This commie dog back in 62 when he was in UK was collecting funds for Chinese soldiers injured in Indo-sino war of 62.

I don't know where these 'doves' are relearning history from; the sorts of Jaswant Singh, ManiShankar Aiyar, Advani. It's like all these guys had the same yoga guru who fed them this cr*p with hypnosis or something. Suddenly these guys have discovered that Gandhi and Nehru are the reason for partition and that Jinnah was trying for a united India. Jaswant Singh goes further and writes a book to make a 'point' and mislead Indians who don't realize that he is not a historian. He just tells a story quoting some other storytellers.

These stories are alarmingly gaining favour among a very niche school of thought who thinks non-violence was weakness and useless and that the British let us alone only because they wanted to.
Here is a quote from Einstein for them:
Generations to come, it may well be, will scarce believe that such a man as this one ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth
Nobody among the mainstream historians believe that Jinnah wanted unity. He just did not want to do anything with the Hindu-India except that he planned to have enough Hindus in Muslim-India held as hostage, just in case the Muslims left in Hindu India were not treated properly.

Jinnah might have been an ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity, but not after the early 1930's. Unfortunately nobody asked for Sarojini Naidu's opinion of Jinnah in the 40's.

Is our democracy about uniformity of views, and marching in lock-step, or about intellectual freedom? I am confident that if MSA had been affected in this deeply personal way, he would have thought the same.

As for his collecting funds, I deplore his actions, and celebrate our free country that allowed young communists such freedom. Long may it continue.

Very bluntly, and simply, I don't agree. Months before Jaswant Singh's book came out, we came to much the same conclusions over nearly six months of impassioned debate on PTH about these issues. On the Indian side, Hayyer, Gorki, bonobashi participated; on the Pakistani side, Yasser Latif Hamdani, Bloody Civilian, and others participated. There were others; this was some time ago. We came to the same conclusions, sometimes even the same language, as Jaswant Singh-ji, so much so that some of us thought of asking Raza Rumi to copyright our deliberations and comment pages for the future.

The history of those times desperately needs re-writing in the light of Ayesha Jalal's thesis, even if there are many of us who do not wholly subscribe to Ayesha Jalal's or Yasser-bhai's positions.

Pakistan is suffering because Pakistan decided it wanted to use islamic terrorism against its neighbors. now its come to bite them back. No one but Pakistans army is to blame for their current state of affairs.

Karma
India suffered terrorism for so many decades including 26/11.was that also result of india's karma?

.
well good to see a realisation is emerging in indian politicians minds, positive signs!
