Pakistan eyes US military equipment from Afghanistan

its better for the equipment to go in responsible hands...... so i say Pakistan is not a bad option to sell off to rather than giving it to ANA as the uncertainty of the existence of AFGHANISTAN as a nation is pretty uncertain too (after this heavy war).

there is too much of equipment to transfer back
handing over such advanced equipments to a war torn country is indeed without doubt DANGEROUS
heavily used and old equipments.....(covering the cost of parts, maintenance etc)

so i conclude that Afghanistan being uncertain is not a good option...........even if they dont offer it to us and give it to them no regrets as the equipment is already pretty used and old....if they do then we can have a look :smokin:

i did not found post to be useful in this tread.full of useless posts and trolls .post some decent post .only few serious poster . full of indian and pakistani trolls .:hitwall:

The A-10s and the helicopters would be a very nice buy.

I doubt our government is in any political or diplomatic strength to ask for any deal.

That wouldn't make any sense. How can air assets come under leftover stock? They don't need to be shipped or airlifted but flown back home the same way most of them arrived.

.
All pakistanis on the forum burn with fury when drones kill scores of fellow countrymen and the next instance same pakistanis are eyeing leftover maal of US in afghanistan.... where is the dignity???

.
better if Pakistan get everything it will be safer

.
Don't Americans always do that? You know leave behind equipment like advertising their weapons but cry when it is used against them by those who found it? WEIRD PEOPLE if you ask me!

Well, even if a rock kills Pakistanis we are not happy! IF the weapons are just lying around, why not help yourself? What does this have to do with dignity? strange word to throw in when you have nothing to say :D

.
I don't think Americans are gonna leave behind equipments , I mean why on earth will they leave behind their equipments :woot: except some concrete walls built on the outskirts of Kabul !

The left over bases will be used by the Afganistan army isn't it ??

They always leave behind equipment! No idea why but some rebels always seem to get American equipment AFTER these AMERICAN soldiers leave their soil...Not sure if the soldiers sell it to them so they can cause prob so that the American soldiers have a reason to come back or what not!

When you change your house from A location to B location do you leave behind your laptops , playstation , refrigerator ?? No naaah......similarly no army is so stupid to leave their majorty of equipments!!
Secondly the rebels get their hands on american equipments because they take it away from the site of dead US soldiers .

I doubt there is anything worth getting excited about in Afghanistan that Pakistani forces may need

a) We alreay make Armoured vehicles
b) We already make Tanks
c) We alreay make conventional weapons infact sell it to other nations

However if something is being provided at low rates , why not perhaps we can army some local posts in Pakistan`s west front

I mean provied the cost is relatively low to purchase the items

In any case the US owes Pakistan Army for its incident apologies from past

The fact the items are going thru Pakistan shows that the DEAL is already struck down instea of it going thru UZbakistan

Some of the challenges in Afghanistan, according to Carter, include:

•Dismantling 400 bases. Every item has to be inventoried, cleaned and shipped out — back home, or to stocks of equipment positioned around the globe. Some can be left to Afghans, though not much, he said, because they have limited ability to maintain gear.

•Returning 100,000 shipping containers, large metal boxes. The military paid more than $610 million in late fees over the past decade to shipping companies for failing to return containers on time, Pentagon records show.

•Bringing home 45,000 miltiary vehicles, including 14,000 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) trucks. The vehicles, per U.S. Department of Agriculture requirements, must be cleaned of dirt chunks larger than a finger to avoid bringing alien species home.

"All that stuff has to come out now along the same slender arteries it came in on," Carter said. "That is a very big difference from the last one of these I did, which was two years ago in Iraq."

It really appears US is wasting tremendous money , its far better to sell the items to Pakistan who after all did helped US to move supplies and help over all in operations it would be a diplomatic victory that they could turn , a bad situation positive with Pakistani Military

Like many members pointed out, most sophisticated hardware like bunker busters, A-10s, SPHs will not be sold to Pak.

They may sell trucks, firearms, mortars etc. to Pak.
