Pakistan has deployed more Chinese medium-range air defense missiles across several cities and military bases, to prevent any intrusions after the Indian Air Force carried out cross-border anti-terrorist strikes last month.
Five units of LY-80 (HQ-16) surface-to-air missiles (SAM) and IBIS-150 air defense surveillance radar units were spread across Pakistan following New Delhi’s strike last month against terrorists in Balakot, deep inside Pakistan’s territory, Indian news outlets reported, citing the latest intelligence reports.

Besides SAM systems, Islamabad also reportedly has deployed additional Chinese-made Rainbow CH-4 and CH-5 drones, for surveillance and even potential strikes at the Kashmir Line of Control. At least three of those drones have been shot down following the February 26 strike against the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist camp.

The Indian raid inside Pakistani territory came in response to the Pulwama attack on February 14, in which a Kashmiri member of a Pakistan-based militant group killed 40 Indian paramilitary police in a suicide bombing. That sortie was followed by a mid-air dogfight the following day, in which one of India's MiG-21 Bison was shot down while confronting Pakistani jets that conducted a retaliatory cross-border raid.

The HQ16A or LY-80 is a Chinese-made medium range surface-to-air defense missile system which was introduce in the Chinese armed forces in September 2011. The HQ-16 is produced by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp (CASC). Using advanced technologies, of intermittent illumination semi-active radar homing guidance, phased array radar, vertical cold launch and radio communication network, the LY-80 can be operated under the environment of strong electro-magnetic interference and during all-weather conditions. This is a land based version of the HQ-16 system used in ships (and fired from VLS (Vertical Launch System) containers. The HQ-16A is based on a joint development of the Russian Buk-M1 (SA-11 'Gadfly') and Buk-2M (SA-17 'Grizzly') Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) systems, for use from mobile ground vehicles and later from ships. The HQ-16A is able to engage aerial targets at high altitude; the mid-range HQ-16 is also able to intercept very low-flying targets at a distance of up to about 40 kilometers, filling the gap between the HQ-7 short-range SAM and the HQ-9 long-range SAM systems. The HQ-16A missile can hit targets of an altitude from 400 to 10,000 meters. According to the SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) arms transfers database, three units of the LY-80 were ordered by Pakistan in 2014 and delivered in 2015/2016. The Pakistan Army formally inducted the LY-80 (HQ-16) medium-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system on March,12, 2017. In January 2018, Pakistani army has performed the first live firing with the LY-80 during the military exercise Al Bayza-2019.

Along with it, we should start working on an indigenous high altitude SAM something similar to David's sling or even Iron Dome.

Cost bro, lot's of advanced electronics. Best to purchase off the shelf.

Thats is true for short term gain Pakistan should buy it off the shelf but long term it will make us dependent. As our Economy becomes better we should invest in human capital so we can build and test advance systems ourselves.

HQ 9 if possible(already china facing quite an heat for its export possible plans so no chances of later series ).Thats why i like the sound of 15,000 Pakistanis going to work in South korea hopefully some same arrangement with Malaysia soon as both are very advance in high end electronics we will get proper trained workforce to work in our future project may be under project AZM

Bro more than high altitude its the low level threats that are far more dangerous, there needs to be systems to target smart munition and all forms of standoff bombs from reaching their targets! a tri system consisting of laser, rocket and guns.

Got many AA guns just need to tandem a good laser system and a good rocket system like the Denel Cheetah c-ram

"Indian news outlets reported, citing the latest intelligence reports."

This has no value as a news article......

Agreed!

Things coming form "Indian news outlets" are 99% fake or twisted to satisfy their inferiority complex.
