Pakistan 'deeply saddened' over Dhaka's execution of Jamaat leader Mir Quasem Ali

.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the vernacular, "deeply saddened" is diplomatic code-speak for, "We don't care enough to do anything of substance, but we will pretend we care anyway."

.
The traitor's daughter has just one trick up her sleeve and that is extra judicial killings

The "don't really care" nature of the response is reinforced by repeated usage of the word "should" in the statement.

No it means , we appreciate the efforts of people of East Pakistan who supported us in War in 1971 and it is tragic their lives were taken just becasue of a war incident almost 40 years ago

Killing someone for political reason after 40 years is quite tragic

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is "deeply saddened" over Bangladesh's execution of wealthy tycoon and top Jamaat-e-Islami financier Mir Quasem Ali for "alleged crimes committed before December 1971 through a flawed judicial process", Foreign Office (FO) Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said on Sunday.

Bangladesh hanged Ali on Saturday for alleged war crimes. The key Jamaat-e-Islami leader was convicted in November 2014 of a series of crimes committed during the 1971 independence conflict, including the abduction and murder of a young fighter.

"The act of suppressing the Opposition through flawed trials is completely against the spirit of democracy," Zakaria said.

Ali is the last prominent JI leader to face execution. Five opposition leaders including four JI leaders have been executed for war crimes since 2013.

"Ever since the beginning of the trials, several international organisations, human rights groups, and international legal figures have raised objections to the court proceedings, especially regarding fairness and transparency, as well as harassment of lawyers and witnesses representing the accused," he said.

"The government of Bangladesh should uphold its commitment, as per the Tripartite Agreement of 1974, wherein it 'decided not to proceed with the trials as an act of clemency'," Zakaria said, adding that "recriminations for political gains are counter-productive".

"Pakistan believes that matters should be addressed with a forward-looking approach in the noble spirit of reconciliation," he said, adding that Pakistan offers its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.

Mir Quasem Ali was said to be a key commander of the Al-Badr militia in the southern port city of Chittagong during the 1971 war, and later became a shipping and real estate tycoon.

His son Mir Ahmed Bin Quasem, who was part of his legal defence team, was allegedly abducted by security forces earlier in August, which critics say was an attempt to sow fear and prevent protests against the imminent execution.

The Jamaat-e-Islami, which is banned from contesting elections has labelled the charges against Ali “false” and accusing the government of exacting “political vengeance”.

Past convictions and executions of high-profile JI leaders have triggered violence in Bangladesh, which is polarised along political lines.
This is so barbaric from Indian backed regime of shame on them
Down with Bangladeshi government

Holding the power like her father. Doing same as He did. Banned the basic rights of expressing opinions. Even when civil society's spokesman who ever he/she is (Scholar, National Prof, Writer of Constitution) speaks against her autocracy she names them as Mad! Only because of her now thousands of people are dying. She started the chaos by amending the constitution. She just wants to grab and hold the ruler-ship. Only because of her our economy is now destroying. She and her followers now holding every top positions illegally. She already recruited her party men everywhere in the governmental offices. Election Commissions, Police Department, Army everywhere. And now doing mass killing by them. Everyday innocents are dying.

During last 11 months, at least 5000 innocent people has been died in several genocides directed by her. If any one does not support her he/she will be treated as anti liberation forces. Moreover she has killed so many Muslims leaders & Oppositions leaders.

A tragedy for the person killed, no doubt. But that doesn't mean it can't also be justice.
What justice?

The prosecutors have little to no evidence/proof at all.

Both sides "committed" atrocities - but only one side is being punished (many of whom had nothing to do with it).

This is just a political tool being used to purge all rivals of the AL (current ruling party).

In terms of popularity , Jamaat comes at 4th in Bangladesh... The top two polotical party garner 85% of the vote... So I would hardly call them a political rival.
Mir Qasem Ali has never won a seat in parliament either.

Finally, the guy who is hanged is a bangladeshi, and he is charged with killing and torturing bangladeshis... So what gives pakistan the right to complain?

.
yes Mukti Bahini was a terrorist..they killed some good rapists
no they killed innocent West Pakistani citizens, loyal bengalis and raped their remaining families
but i understand Indians have an old habit of admiring and glorifying rapists.

When large numbers of government employees defect government does not exist
When large umber of people carry out extra judicial killings targeting a certain population it is called murders and ethnic cleansing.

.
Well this is definitely progress. We have gone from Pakistan 'protesting' to Pakistan 'condemning' and now to Pakistan 'saddened' .

Hopefully the next stage will be acceptance and we can all move on.
