I hope the PAF takes your advice, which am sure came from extensive personal experience in military aviation.
Glad you think that way.
Because from a political perspective it makes sense to ditch USA

Classic case of "Angoor khatte hain". Pakistan cannot let go of american supplies as their whole military complex is built on and by americans infrastructure.
Like russia built your naval and airforce infrastructure completely????
and without having any problem with ruskies you are diversifing your millitary imports.???

No one is doubting the quality of U.S weapons

Problem is simple, U.S is a pain in the *** and over anything they sell hangs the risk of sanctions, restrictions and many other bull shits

Currently you have yet another grand plan to fix the cluster fcuk that is Afghanistan and are trying to pin the failure of Afghanistan on us

The quality of U.S weapons aside, whats the point of going for something so expensive which carries do much baggage and risk

I expect Pakistan to continue getting some wespons especially ones where we have no alternative or which carry little risk of embargo but over time Pakistan will wean itself of and either build or purchase alternatives

How do you see the current situation between USA and Pakistan? You think both countries should show some flexibility and fix things up or both countries should stop all sort to trade and dealings?

Here is what you seemingly do not understand...

For a country that must import its defense, you do not drop a supplier unless you are ABSOLUTELY secured of an alternate supplier.

Mock the F-16 all you want. The reality is that the F-16 is STILL the standard to meet in terms of versatility, longevity, and reliability. Is your potential new supplier readied ?

Better a weaker system with a stable and trustworthy supplier than a better product with an unstable and untrustworthy supplier.

The forum's Pakistanis who cheers for the rejection of the F-16 as front line combatants are doing it out of their childish need to poke at the US, not because they have any real understanding of military affairs in general, let alone air force in specifics.

Despite the JF-17, which is a joint venture with China, Pakistan do not have a viable native military aviation industry. The reason why countries must import their defense is because defense is an immediate need, not one that can wait for indigenous development and maturity. Therefore, before the rejection of one source must be after the security of an alternate. Everything else, like spare parts and ordnance, are peripheral.

I fully respect Pakistan's decision to reject the US as source for Pakistan's defense needs, if it ever comes to that.

The thing is if Pakistan has any kind of leverage over US its over the NATO supply route. Introducing a new platform for PAF will hurt Pakistan more than US as it will take a lot of hard work and money learning about the pros and cons of the new platform about to be adapted and finding countermeasure for it is surely a tough job. and what US will lose is a country dependent on their military hardware.

What i think is if Pakistan wants to act tough against US, intimidate them on the supply routes.

Sir, We all know USA "Will never" sell new block like 70 of F-16s to Pakistan even block 52 is impossible now(Don't forget Indian factor and purchase) and the fleet we have getting older and older.
We have to retire them one day , We like it not , They are good machines or war proven machines or newbies, nothing will change the fact that they have to go one day. We do need one Medium weight Single Engine bird (as replacement) because JF-17 is Light weight ........
So lets wait and see what will come out from this .........................

He said that to make him look more important then he actually is, common for Pakistanis to believe that. Fact is he is dispensable as it has been shown and he is no longer interior minister.
well I said jf 17 block 2 is more better than f 16 block 52 in many aspects.

An alternative view with "food for thought". Turkey has been fighting proxy mercenary terrorists, collected from all over the world and access to unlimited funds/support etc. having the safest sanctuaries all across the borders, with F16s/Herons/M1xx etc. for the last 40 years. But, with little success!!! But, only when they started to use F16s with indigenous pods, bombs etc. along with 100% locally designed and manufactured tactical drones, missiles, howitzers, guns, radars etc. they're having great successes, especially in the last 2 years....

Since some folks and their cohorts/minions have already moved into the "crying" mode, I think "wait and see' may soon be coming to a happy end....

Americans be like: Come back to me!

giphy.gif
Yup they will be.
F)16 production lines in Texas were only open due to Pakistan. After India's"Successful" diplomacy if sending sunny Leone to warm some beds of lonely American senators, the Pakistani F-16 deal was cancelled and now they have to dump their F-16s on India or shut down production for good.

.
For instance?
For instance speeding up the development process of JF-17 block 3, acquiring FC-20 to meet immediate short term needs and than we have FC-31 on our map for future procurement. It would either be this or the turkish program.

That does make a lot of sense. I was unhappily expecting some bombast, on the lines of buying some glittering new toy.

Thank you for taking the trouble.

hmmm not a problem.

LM can and will convert the line to F-35s.

And there will still be orders for subsystems and support (much of it contracted out).
