Pakistan bans Indian films from being screened in country

.
Panic much with PDF?

Will this ban be effective in stopping people in Pakistan from viewing Indian movies via other means? After all, there are more ways to watch movies outside of cinemas. But, such decisions do have a symbolic impact that is important.

But people won't be spending to watch Indian films and the money which people pay at cinemas goes to India

To be honest with you, a lot of Pakistanis don't watch Indian films anymore.

I stopped watching Bollywood movies 4-5 years ago but I did watch some of the dubbed South Indian movies which in my opinion were better than Bollywood movies... but since last 4-5 years I havent watch any Indian movie in full except some clips here n there.

I already prefer watching Pakistani movies over Indian movies and 9 out of 10 times I am watching Hollywood movies. So i guess i can easily live with it

Nice whataboutery! :D

What has any of that to do with the present Pakistani ban on screening Indian films?

Oh, and not just a ban, but a ban on top of an existing ban. Banban!
No whataboutery. My first post on the thread is critical enough. I am first and foremost an individualist, and I will condemn all authority that seeks to compromise individual freedom - be that through banning cross-border information in shape of films or through the enforcement of political correctness. I hope you see the connection now.

My only intention was to bring to your attention the murder of good sense being carried in your country, just as it is Pakistan, so that some remedy may be sought. Here the Islamists will not allow any criticism or reformation of their fundamental beliefs, and in your country, the left will resist the aforementioned because of the love they bear the 'marginalised' Muslims. Banda jai kahan?

That was quick to edit your post, isn't it? You know what I quoted and your reply came after you edited your own post. Seems like you are getting over obsession with PDF traditions? Good for you, then.

Bollywood & all sorts of Indian media should be banned from Pakistan for good

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday launched a national slogan ‘Say No to India’ and decided to ban all cultural exchanges with India including all kinds of joint ventures in the entertainment industry of the two countries.

“All kinds of Indian content have been stopped and Pemra [Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority] has been directed to step up its vigilance in this regard along with actions against the sale of Indian DTH instruments,” said Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Talking to media persons at a reception hosted by her, she said that the recent Indian action to annex Kashmir had proved that the Quaid-i-Azam was right.

“It is a clash of two ideologies. On the one hand, we have enlightened moderate and progressive ideology while on the other the extremist government in India has shown their hard-line, terrorist, fanatic and anti-Muslim ideology.”

Govt also bars screening of Indian films in cinemas

She said that the deception of cultural exchange was polluting the minds of Pakistani youth and it was essential to contain Indian content that indirectly portrayed their false propaganda.

The special assistant also told the media that the National Security Council had decided to establish a group and thus Pakistan would fight the “Hindutva” ideology from all fronts.

The group will be the cluster of all relevant ministries to fight against the Indian designs at required forums.

“The external communications will be dealt with by the ministry of information, Foreign Office and the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) as per nature of information,” Dr Awan said.

At the same time, she requested the media to be extra cautious and responsible. “I am responsible to answer your queries but I request you not to air any negative ticker based on sources as it could damage the national narrative over this sensitive issue.”

She said in the current situation, the clash between Indian and Pakistani cultural and social values were imminent and it was the media’s responsibility to come to the forefront to defeat Indian cultural invasion.

Indian films

The government has also banned the screening of Indian films in the country’s cinemas, report agencies.

“No Indian film will be screened in any Pakistani cinema. Drama, films and Indian content of this kind will be completely banned in Pakistan,” tweeted Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Senior film producer and director Syed Noor welcomed the decision and said that India’s recent steps were not less than a war and Pakistan’s decision to sever all kinds of relationship with India was right.

Talking to APP, he said that the showbiz industry stood behind the people of held Kashmir.

This is not the first time that a ban on Indian content has been imposed.

Earlier in February, in the wake of the Indian Air Force’s violation of Pakistan’s air space, the Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association had boycotted Indian films and announced that no Indian movie would be released in Pakistan.

Pemra was also instructed by the government to act against advertisements that were made in India.

Good, tear-up this indian media hegemony over Pakistan, piece by piece. Make sure this indian media dies a painful and agonizing death. Bleed the indian media dry, out of Pakistan. And as it is dying a painful death, rip apart all those Pakistani Channels which glorify indian celebrities. Mutilate every last indian funding that supports Pakistani channels and poisons Pakistani minds with indian filth.

This will be a war on indian media machine and Pakistan must comprehensively eradicate every last remnant of it from our soil. To the extent, that even the Cable Operators live with the mindset, that indian channels are not ever coming back, as they are DEAD in Pakistan.

Pakistan Govt, private sector and the people of Pakistan must come together and establish a pure form of media, which is regulated under comprehensive rules. This Pakistan Media must be dynamic, innovative and provide nourishing programs of recreating the stories of our beloved Prophet Muhammad Alaihi Salaat-u-Wassalam. Pakistan Film Industry should make movies of our history, ISLAMIC HISTORY! Create movies about Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed, the Khulafa-e-Rashidun, about the Prophets of Allah mentioned in the Holy Quran. This will cleanse the minds of our young, who have been poisoned with hollywood and bollywood filth.

Construct a Pakistan which focuses on education, that produces quality engineers, aerospace technicians, ship designers, mechanical engineers, bio-science experts, marine life experts, physicists, chemical engineers, historians, cultural heritage experts, astronomers and the like. Create a Pakistani generation that knows the importance of "time" and how it should be treated with care and utilized efficiently. Educational reforms, where education is standardized and regulated, and is "NOT" another means of making money. Education on civic duties, caring for our neighbors, the environment, our poor and our children.

Why we haven't been doing this for the past 72 years as a nation is because we as nation have not followed the guidance of Nabi Muhammad Alaihi Salaat-u-Wassalam. Instead our society has been poisoned by our own filthy evil rich among us and the depraved, vile filth of bollywood & hollywood.

Time is now at hand, my beloved Pakistan, take your destiny of becoming a powerful and steadfast Muslim nation. Your destiny is glorious, when you stand firm and true to your Creator, Allah Subhanahu Wata'aalah, by following the Sunnah of HIS beloved messenger, our Prophet, Muhammad Alaihi Salaat-u-Wassalam.

Take your destiny into your hands, and make Pakistan the powerful banner of Islam. The TRUE ISLAM, the ONLY ISLAM, the ISLAM of Nabi Muhammad Alaihi Salaat-u-Wassalam, of Nabi Isa Alaihi Salam, of Nabi Daood Alaihi Salam, Nabi Suleiman Alaihi Salam, Nabi Musa Alaihi Salam and the Imam of all the Ambiyah-al-Akraam, Nabi Ibraheem Alaihi Salam.

Do NOT fear anything, save Allah. Make your Lord and Creator, Allah Subhanahu Wata'aalah your friend, seek HIS love and mercy. And watch how the world trembles and respects Pakistan.

Such voluntary changes in viewing habits as a matter of preference are far more effective than any ban that tries to impose preferences. Always.

But people won't be spending to watch Indian films and the money which people pay at cinemas goes to India

That is a good point. However, such revenues are only a small part of Bollywood's streams, while it is a much larger part of the local cinema industry. So the satisfaction of denying a small amount of revenue to Bollywood must be considered against its deleterious effect on the local industry, which ironically is needed to promote Pakistan's own values, views and culture.

Although i support the ban, bans are bullshit. Why do we need to impose a ban. Why is the demand there in the first place? What kind of ghatiya people don't recognise their enemy?

So go & fight with them.

Don't use the name of Islam

Go and finish them.

If THEY actually went anywhere - do you think there would be a shortage of volunteers?

You ask some good questions, but if bans are bullshit, and yet you support it, aren't you in effect supporting bullshit?

She said that the deception of cultural exchange was polluting the minds of Pakistani youth and it was essential to contain Indian content that indirectly portrayed their false propaganda.

As long as Pakistani youth have access to the internet, their minds will be exposed to all types of content, Indian and much besides too. There is no effective way to stop this except by presenting a better point of view. Bans simply do not work.

Will the National Award given to Frau Mehwish Hayat for successfully integrating Indian Bollywood culture in Pakistan be taken back?

Will money launderers who worked in Bollywood be investigated for connections with Yadev Network?

Will this include ban on PTI election Songs copied from India?
