Pakistan avoid FATF blacklist move again but danger still lurks

Every hawala Hundi channel in Pakistan use Dubai but UAE is not in Black list. Strange!

SMQ himself stated the grey list has caused Pakistan to lose 10 billion in the year since it was placed on it. Significant, especially considering Pakistan cannot afford to suffer any economic loss in its current situation.

Most countries are being neutral...Its the Americans and Indians that are continuing to push this issue. Being on the grey list is not really hurting us but we should try to get off. The grey list would hurt us more if the USA didn't have to sign off on the IMF bailout to get Abhi released.

We have to lobby the British to stop supporting the Americans and Indians on the issue.....since pragmatically...there complaints not really going anywhere.

No one is being neutral here. They voted to put us on blacklist but we were saved by mere 3 countries.

Wrong. Just a public statement to get the support of UK. With grey list u don't loose anything.

So why is Pakistan and other countries in its situation trying to get out of it?

please post some mature stuff. Grey list is just the warning. Black list is something which will fcuk up things for Pakistan.

Your own minister estimates the loss of being in grey list at 10 billion dollars a year.

Islamabad requires at least 15 out of 36 votes to move out of the watchdog’s grey list, which is causing an estimated loss of $10 billion per year.

About the FATF sanctions, the minister said the country was placed in the grey list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government. However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is taking initiatives to avert the country being put in its blacklist, he said. “Being in FATF’s grey list has caused a loss of $10 billion to the country, while the cost of being included in the blacklist will be even higher,” he (Qureshi) added.

Not even China. They abstained.
China abstained AFTER Saudi Arabia backed off since even if China had continued Pakistan still needed one more vote to remain out of the grey list.

Well why did China need to do that? They could have voted to show Pakistan support regardless of result, just like Turkey did.

China doesn't want itself to get portrayed as aligned with terrorists. Pakistan was a great strategic asset for China given its geographical advantage. But its set of actions pursued by Pakistan has made it a liability.

The fatf has little direct ability to do anything. This is a symbolic exercise.

Its clear to me that current world financial structure is being politicized by a few nations. World needs to return to the gold standard in my opinion.
Sir, all international agencies/ committees cannot supersede sovereignty. It is all about diplomacy [international level name of politics] and putting the weight behind. Some play leader game rest move with begging bowl. :)

Not sure what your rambling about. Indian pressure in Fatf have been fruitless. Take a look at what's going on in Chennai before pretending to be a super power.
