Pakistan's Assembly condemns publication of Prophet`s caricature

Islamabad, Aug 21:

Pakistan's National Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution condemning the publication of a blasphemous caricature of Prophet Mohammed in an Indian newspaper.

The resolution, passed unanimously by the lower house of parliament, demanded that the government lodge a strong protest with India and summon its High Commissioner to the Foreign Office to convey to him the "utmost resentment and sentiments of Muslims in Pakistan" over the publication of the caricature and his companions in an Indian newspaper.

Through the resolution, moved by ruling Pakistan People's Party leader and Law Minister Farooq Naek, the National Assembly demanded strict action against the newspaper in accordance with law to prevent the publication of such material in future.

On Tuesday, the assembly of Punjab province had passed a similar resolution condemning the publication of the caricature in the Indian newspaper. It also expressed anger of the assembly's members at the publication of the caricature.

The Hindustan daily had published an article on Mohammed's teachings on August 16 that featured an illustration of the prophet, who according to Islamic traditions cannot be depicted in any manner.

Following protests by Indian Muslims and clerics, it had published an apology the next day.

I am just amazed that how these people play with religious sensitivity of muslims & then simply apologize. Still indian people ask why Kashmiris need freedom & call India world biggest democracy? If so, then its less about 'Indian Muslims' and more about the 'principle' of protesting an act considered religiously inappropriate and insensitive.

1. The newspaper is not a "Hindu" newspaper.

2. Images of Hindu gods are regularly published, and many cartoonists model politicians, public figures as Hindu gods in their caricatures. Parodies of Hindu gods are a regular feature in Indian newspapers for as long as I can remember.
Our own schools and colleges have plays and skits, I remember one in my school where the cast of Ramayana was dressed up in the costumes of the movie Sholay for a comedy play.

3. They apologized. Though I really don't see why they need to do that.

both Muslims and non Muslim brother's/sisters should come close by not provoking either religious sentiments be it Islam or Hinduism , Christianity , Judaisms , Buddhism , all these are great religions and every body should respect them Hindus should not insult Islam and Muslims should not insult Hinduisms. Hindus should refrain from unhealthy remarks (which i condemn) regarding our beloved Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and Muslims should refrain from making unhealthy remarks (which i also condemn) about the respective Deities of worship in Hinduism or any other religion.

The Majlis seems to be interested in little except condemning this or that silly thing, the same for most Pakistanis as well, and I want to join the band wagon of condemnation, I condemn the Majlis and other governmental institutions of Pakistan for thier disinterest in issues that can better the lives of ordinary Pakistanis/

As for the reputation of the Prophet of God, if you agree that he tis the prophet of All Mighty God, how can any cartoon or movie or book or anything else hurt him who is beloved of God??

Images of Hindu gods and godesses are published daily, i understand that but you should understand that your temples are also having pictures of your gods & godesses. Also you have stones carved in the shape of your god & godesses, so its preety much ok for you people. In the case of Muslims, there is no photography or stone carving is allowed to get the visual of ALLAH (one god) or the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, so it's definately hurting to the Muslims. These may be minor things for you, but from a devoted or non-devoted muslim,it is definately hurting.

If your media does not tell you about that, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. In order to gain control the troubled situation, India need to take care of all issues minor or major specially where sentiments of people are concerned, whether Muslims or hindu. Otherwise, keep on doing what you are doing now & may be you or definitely next generation of your country will rip the fruit of hatred.

Do you know the difference between asking for Pakistani Punjab to be divided into say north Punjab and south punjab, and when Balochistan liberation army (or whatever it is called) asks for independent Balochistan?

well, among the things you mentioned, the red highlighted ones fall into the first category.

Next in the others, you have stated that you have not written from states of northeast (the underlined statement), well the north east states include mizoram, sikkim, assam, nagaland, manipur, meghalaya, arunachal pradesh (called seven sisters) and some parts of west bengal which borders them basically the chicken neck,They have been highlighted in pink.

Kashmir and Khalistan, you know, I wouldnt want to rake up.

Zomi national party is a Burma organization, now you wouldnt want to anger china right by including it in India. The tamilnadu ones are basically fronts for LTTE in India. highlighted in orange.
