These are the same rag tag terrorists that NATO + US have not been able to defeat yet.

What is required is a mobile, agile power punch, that can decimate enemy positions fast and cheap.

Terrorist don't move in formation, they are characterized by lack of formations,
Thus a gun like that on the M1 will be very useful from a range of 1500 m or so.
Once it is known that a village or forest region has TTP in them.

Just point away and let it rip !

A system like the M1 will also keep any aircraft or helicopters at bay, should they try to get adventurous !

I hear you but can't agree with the suggestion for the reason I would presume that many villages are forced to keep these terrorists (presumably also in Pakistan). Your suggested firepower will decimate villages and just develop resentment towards the army by the very people they are trying to help. I'm just restricting it to the Russian tank and not to general firepower. NATO and the US don't have a permanent interest in the region unlike the Pakistani army

....yes they are. But we have been living there since hundreds of years, when we were probably no different from Afghans(poverty wise) are now. So the mountains are not inhospitable, people can and are living there, with varying living standards.

Interesting thinking you got there. With that logic you do genocides. You do know there are various factors for a person to stay at their native place despite the threats. Thats the reason India still has such large Muslim population despite huge migration and ideological incentive at partition of India.

But again why wont the tangos too move out. They don't have logistics of a army base which compels them to stay back. And I think they move out and move back after sometime, and this is the reason for these kinds of operation to happen so frequently.

I hope not but I fear it does. Because the Pakistani member shave not provided any strong argument to artillery bomb their own territory.

dude look at google earth for the area. this is just terrorist vs the army and they are getting their asses kicked. I travel extensively in pakistan and trust me you can travel for days in our mountains and not even see a bird let alone a person
