Pakistan Army chief Bajwa’s term likely to be extended

.
He should stay....
Sometimes consistency is not bad.
I don't know why you ask for things in Pakistan that usually happen in normal countries. We are not normal now, but heading towards normalcy. We have too much problems, 2 active borders, one hostile border. Several terrorist groups, several other ethnic and religious groups, sects stuff.
And now a molvi who is self proclaimed leader of a sect is threatening the government of supporting qadiyani preparing his madrassa students to march on the capital.
Opposition fighting right left and center.
Oppositiom has become from anti government to anti Pakistan .
And people at war with themselves. Waiting to destroy what is left.
So he needs to stay. He has proved through hia work he is worth it. 2 years extension won't hurt anyone.
Asad umer can be the perfect man for the national security advisor but he won't take it sadly . I hope he did.

I have always said that 3-years for a COAS is pathetic. It should be at least 4-years tenure. Within the existing 3-year tenure, the first 3-months are nothing more than the COAS settling into his new position. Then towards the ends of the tenure, another 3-months are wasted due to hand-over to the new COAS. So logically, the tenure of the COAS is 2.5 years not even 3-years. Same applies to CAS, and CNS positions.

Lahore:Pakistan’s Army chief, Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa is likely to get extension in his term, reports said.

According to a report in Pakistan Today, its Editor Arif Nizami, commenting on the US visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan, said that while all the foreign visits are considered successful irrespective of the desired results, Imran Khan’s trip to Washington was successful from all angles and Bajwa’s presence in it was crucial.

Expecting term extension for the army chief, he said: “Currently, the relation between the government and the Army are good, which was not the case during PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) regime. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during his tenures, changed the Army Chief six times. Apart from this, General Bajwa is also crucial for the US as it is seeking his help to exit Afghanistan without further loss.”

“Looking at this prospect, we can expect term extension for General Bajwa, though we can’t really guess for how long.”

Nizami also said that Bajwa, who took over as the army chief in November 2016, is different from previous ones as he doesn’t likes publicity, while being known as an “intelligent general with leadership quality”.

I like him, he's quieq and deadly.

. . . .
Extending a General's tenure means you are doubting other Generals' leadership ability. Same people were suggesting government to extend General Shareef's term because they didn't trust General Bajwa and others in line. They should know PA works as an institution, and retirement and promotions are a part of an officer's service.

We should give him a 5 year extension, a general of his calibre is a rare breed indeed. His cool and calculated drumming of the Indians is to be applauded and he delivered what the people of Pakistan required.

We also need him for upgradation of Mullah Diesal software

Then the same political parties use to blame that Army might be interfering in politics. Why do political parties have to discuss about COAS extension? These political corrupts used to appoint Retired Bureaucrats for 3 to 5 years term to pay them as payback for the favours or to continue their own corruption mostly. Let it be decided under Constitution and if it isn't a plausible/feasible thing to do in-case of dire need in times as such; be it PPPP, PMLN, ANP or anyone else, should have amended the constitution long ago. None of the political clowns amended the constitution but always comes out of water like toads to comment and vent frustration. Kaira's political daddy was the guy who extended Kiyani term and we all know how does it went for us. What a circus to see where politically aggrieved clowns have to settle their score through such kind of stories.
