What's new

Pakistan and Kashmir are part and parcel of each other. - COAS Raheel Shareef

The part we want is already with us, pro forma protestations not withstanding. We are not the ones actively seeking to change the status quo.

That's not your gov's official stance, Is it now? You claim all of Kashmir so yes you are actively seeking to change the status quo.

There is a difference, GoI will claim all of it as long as Pakistan does not agree to drop its claim. That is common sense. The fact however is simple, no one in India really cares about the Pakistan controlled part.

There is no attempt by GoI to actively change the status quo in Kashmir.

"Pakistan opposed use of proxies against other countries and will not tolerate any country to use proxies against Pakistan," he added.
Huh? Opposed the use of proxies? :woot: Doesn't this guy know that Pakistan has been conducting a proxy war against India with the PA's mercenary 'strategic assets' for the past three decades? These are his 'good terrorists' - the LeT, JeM and so on.

Army chief said that Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition.
Agreed 100%. Pakistan needs to get out of occupied Kashmir which is part and parcel of the Union of India, forthwith. The sooner the better or he can expect some nice fireworks.

"Pakistan and Kashmir are inseperable" he added.
Now this calls for a good laugh! :omghaha:

Gen Raheel said that the resolution of Kashmir is essential to bring lasting peace in the region.
What a load of bull! Does anyone think that the PA really wants peace with India? If so, they're barking up the wrong tree. Because without the Kashmir 'dispute' the PA will lose all relevance and power in Pakistan. So they'll want to keep the pot boiling forever.

And lastly, if this guy thinks Kashmir is Pakistan's 'jugular vein', then I say, come and get it. Pakistan tried that in 1965 and got a bloody nose instead. Tried it in Kargil and Mush ran away after his forces were decimated.

So, Shareef, you wanna try it again? You're welcome! But remember, history has a nasty habit of repeating itself!! :P

Yes. nobody cares but still GoI has a problem when Pakistan holds elections not in Kashmir but in Gilgit-Baltistan.It was Musharaf who was willing to give a lot of concessions on Kashmir and ready to convert the LoC into an IB, It was India who refused.

For the purpose of the argument, GoI considers Gilgit-Baltistan as part of J&K.

Musharraf was willing to do things differently but you have your facts wrong, it was Pakistan that resiled from Musharraf's positions with Gen.Kayani making it clear that he wasn't willing to take on the Islamists- atleast that is the excuse he used. The PPP government too wanted to reopen the negotiations & wanted to walk back on some of Musharraf's positions . 26/11 then happened & the rest is history.

what else one can expect,if the Kashmir issue is resolved PA will run out of bussiness.
Kashmir issue has given them way too much power and space, who would like to give that up.

Same as 'Atoot Ang' is separated from India
