Pakistan and India gained independence in 1947 as British India came to its culmination. Since independence, the two neighbors have been all but neighborly towards each other – both countries have fought three full, and one limited war.

This rivalry between both stems from the disputed territory of Kashmir and has resulted not only in a massive trust deficit but also into the region becoming a global flashpoint. The latter is due to both countries’ massive nuclear arsenals and their engrossment in an arms race for supremacy. Although there have been many negotiations, peace initiatives, and CBMs (confidence-building measures) since independence – major success stories have been negligible.

Both countries have been ensnared in an enduring deadlock that continues to the present day. Pakistan and India have fought three wars over Kashmir and since the rise of BJP and the right-wing in India, another war seems inevitable. Since India abrogated articles 35A and 370 in August 2019 and imposed an ongoing lockdown in the valley, Pakistan and Indian relations have yet again escalated.

Pakistan has suspended trading with India and both countries intermittently exchange fire on the LoC (Line of Control – the de facto border between Azad Kashmir – in Pakistan – and Jammu & Kashmir – in India). The major reasons why another war is inevitable between Pakistan and India are: Kashmir; proxy warfare & terrorism; international interference & alignments; trust deficit; and the Hindutva state & Islamic extremism.

These wars were all fought before both countries acquired nuclear weapons. A war, if any, will no doubt incorporate the use, at a minimum, of tactical nuclear weapons.

I don’t foresee a war between the two countries because of nuclear weapons alone. No one will win this war but all will lose.

The eternal war between India and Pakistan is being fought through other means.

Good set of points except for the further explanation of the "Islamic Extremism"!!! The author might be too naïve to fathom the dark working inside the dark basements of the dark buildings of the Dark Intelligence in the dark capitals of the dark Imperialists at the dark nights in collusion with the Dark Devils! "Islamic Extremism" is their bastards to finish off the Muslim countries/societies from inside, not to fight against their interests....

Problem lies with many Pakistanis who still do not understand hindutva mentality.

Mr. Modi is nothing but a symbol of hindutva expression. He will go and someone else will come.

It is vital that Pakistan becomes economically and militarily strong.

I for one am certainly hoping, wishing and waiting.

I don't like war and desire peace, but we need to rid that smug smile on India's face, we keep humiliating them and still, so enough is enough.

.
India will never fight two front war hindutva or no hindutva the probability of which is very high in the current scenario.

. .
Nope no more war.

The next war will be between India and China, where India will be humiliated.
Pakistan needs to join in the war if Kashmir is to be liberated ... the Chinese do not have enough forces to liberate Kashmir and Ladakh all by themselves when a huge amount of resources/operations have to be devoted for the invasion of AP, Sikkim, cutting off the Siliguri Corridor, and capturing Delhi. There are over a million troops stationed in Kashmir and the bulk of the Chinese forces is in fighting on the eastern front so Pakistan's involvement will absolutely be crucial. If not, the furthest I believe the Chinese will penetrate on the western front is Leh.

. .
how long you will wait in UK ? why not come to pakistan and start jihad i kashmir ?

That's all you people are ever good at, killing innocent civilians, even your own citizens.

There's a difference between killing a person on the street and fight a proper army, you bleeding cowards.

I can sense the fear in your tone, I bet you sh.t yourself at the thought of fighting the Pakistan army, go on my son call your mommy so she can come wipe your backside and clean your mess. Maybe wear a nappy.

Grow up before you tackle big boys, now go suckle on your udders.

No wars are eternal. It may take 10 years, 100 years or even a 1000 and India will be conquered.

. .

Why should we not welcome a two front China-Pak war? Why are TV anchors shivering at the thought? If we want to take back Azad Kashmir and make Pak into 4, the best that can happen is a two front war after Nov 15 this year.
Indian Senior Politician even giving off timeline for War... DGISPR also confirmed the Possibility of full blown war is not out of question with India,
