What's new

Pakistan and India, both may get SCO full membership

Tell that to the Russians, they don't believe that. They know they still know China still relies a lot on their tech for its military. Do you know how many chinese fighter jets run on Russia engines even today?lol Do you know how many Chinese fighter jets are derived/reverse engineered from Russian ones? for this reason they cant even export some of these fighters as Moscow will protest its IP rights and the aircraft's as well since engines are Russians etc. China in my opinion still needs decades to get rid of Russian tech dependence altogether, and create a purely ingenious tech military industry. I think China will succeed though as its advancing quite fast, but it needs more/a lot of time for its own systems to mature. Until then Moscow still has the upper hand, and it will milked it for all its worth, while it still has the time.:enjoy:

Dont forget Russia is an old bear Geo political master player just like we in Britain/E.U and the U.S, we have all been playing these games for over a century now since we were world powers battling for world supremacy/control, so Russia has as much experience as us, China to be honest is still fairly new to the game. But it will learn with time.

Good Points. Not to mention China's economic slowdown in the coming years.

LOOOL One of the few things i agree with you on. I said on here before as well. China despite being bigger still need Russia more than vice versa, well if its wants to stand any chance of counter balancing U.S pivot to Asia and maintaining a virtual parity/stability. So China is still willing to kind of play second fiddle to Moscow/stay behind the scenes for the time being. This can be seen as you said in the fact that even though the Chinese as you said despise Russia due to the fact that Moscow wants continued Chinese cooperation/aid to offset western/U.S sanctions against them, while at the same time Moscow doesn't give a shit about Beijing's own sensitivities AT ALL , like Supplying deadly submarines/missiles to Vietnam. LOOOL . If China was an equal to Russia in this relationship, it too would have been providing weapons/equipment/aid to Ukraine if necessary on a 'neutral' perspective as Moscow says it does towards Vietnam.:D. But we all know it cant even if Ukraine demands/begs for it, since China is scared/worried of offending Moscow, meanwhile Russia can and will keep providing Vietnam with all weapons Vietnam can afford to buy without taking into account any of its Chinese sensitivities/worries. So much for strategic allies/partners.:pop:

I say well done Moscow, you are still a very good chess player.
As the biggest loser of the four powers US, Europe, China, USSR in cold war, a good chess player? I think the biggest fault of the leaders of USSR/Russia is that they always overestimate the strength of its own.

The group wasn't military orgalization when it started. Their mission is anti-torrorism, later adding economic cooperation. Economic deal is not obviouse so far, Central Asian nations' econony at starting stage. It's obvious terrorism spreading restricted effectively in Central Asia comparing to Middle east and south-west Asia.

So, what's your opinions of the Indian and Pakistan government's decision?

Terrorism have never affected Central Asia to begin with. And trust me , Prime Ministers and Presidents do not meet over mere anti- terrorism agenda. So there is no question of stopping terrorism , when there is no visible terrorism seen in Central Asia. Russia was affected Checken Rebels. China have seen terrorist attacks (but only with knives and swords), and simply this is nothing in scale compared to the terrorism affected regions of South Asia.

India have the best experience in dealing with terrorism as far as I know. Well I am not going to comment on Pakistan. Their terrorism industry is world famous with Central Asians training in their tribal regions, occasionaly blaming RAW, but while their nationals are getting caught for terrorist attacks all over the world. They do not have the guts to prosecute for 26/11.

What Pakistan brings to table with regards to Terrorism, God only knows.

Russia-China should cooperate to weaken the West by creating alternatives. The West did a big favour to get Russia and China close.

Russia actually needs China far more than vice versa. China's dependence on Russia is decreasing even for weapons, which is the main trump card for Russia.

The main thing China relies on Russia is engines, but that is decreasing as WS-10 is progressing well for 4th generation fighters and WS-15 for 5th generation fighters. WS-20 will be the high-bypass turbofan for the Y-20 and its variants. China has domestic weapons for most sectors.

China is also squeezing the balls of Russia by getting deals and making Russia depended on the Chinese market, Chinese investment, Chinese loans and Chinese technology like oil and gas drilling technology, high-speed rail technology, and even components for its space program. Russia is desperate to get close to China and China is using that beautifully as China knows its only a matter of time before China surpass Russia in all areas.

China is also smart by not looking to be too anti-Western by letting Russia lead and continue to get rich and buy up Western technology, while all the time doing its best to weaken the West. China only needs to reach its full potential to be the ultimate counterbalancing force to the West. China will bide its time as time is on China's side.

What technology does China rely on Russia?
I want specifics.

The full membership is still under legal procedure. In your opinion, the Indian parliament or concil will oppose and stop the govtnment's decision?

From 2012, China and Russia have never signed a new contract of the import of engines. Nowadays our importing Al-31F from Russia is just performing the contract signed in 2012. In comparison, Russia has lost the capability of designing and manufacturing many engines such as R0110, UGT25000 etc because of Ukraine incident. Meanwhile China has gotten the abilities from Ukraine not Russia.
China can export anything to Russia from fruits, clothes to cars, trucks, trains even the most electronic components used to their satellites and most machine tools used to manufacture their weapons, however Russia can only export their oil and gas to China(a big Saudi Arabia).

Where did you get this "decades" estimate from?

China is only importing engines for some but not all of it's planes from Russia now. Apart from this China does not really buy anything from Russia anymore.

It is engines that China lags behind in but we have already seen progress in products like WS-10A, WZ-9 and QC-280 that China owns ALL intellectual property rights on, and is currently powering fighters, helicopters and ships.Right now the Y-20 transport aircraft is being tested with the WS-20 engine and it would not surprise me if the production Y-20 is powered by China's own engines when going into service around 2017.

10 years is plenty of time for China to fully master engine tech from the point it is at now. Yes China will still be 1-2 decades behind US/ UK in engines but it would have caught up with Russia at least. A Chinese engine specialist gave an estimate of the year 2040 when China equals US/ UK in engine tech and I think that is realistic.

Nope. Indian Parliament wont oppose. India and Pakistan have to work together if the council so demands, and let it be.

Well if moscow wasnt a good chess player, it wouldnt have been a world power before the first world war , and a superpower after the second world war in the first place, especially after being a rival of thw great british empire, europe and the U.S.
In fact it wouldnt have won the second world war in the first place and neither would hace have occupied so much land from balkan countries, china, japan etc.
Dont underestimate this old bear.:taz: They are still a far bigger threat to us(especially militarily/strategically) than even china, china still needs more time to get there. :bounce::agree:

The most victories of Russia were absolutely tragic victories that Russia have got with sacrifices far larger than most its rivals even a country as little as Finland.
If it was a good chess player, it wouldnt always try to use its forces to solve every problem, that should be the last bluff.
The force will always be the last means to solve problems for a good player.-----The art of war
In fact it wouldnt have won the second world war in the first place and neither would hace have occupied so much land from balkan countries, china, japan etc.
The Russia's embarrassed environment is absolutely caused by their ancestors' greedy in plunder of land, and now they even can take enough control of their vast land.
Dont underestimate this old bear.:taz: They are still a far bigger threat to us(especially militarily/strategically) than even china, china still needs more time to get there. :bounce::agree:

You neednt remind us of that. In all history our country's biggest threat on land(the enemy from sea is you Brits and US) always was the enemy from north such as the most powerful nations in history Hun, Turk, Mogol, Sienpi that were all destroyed/assimilated by Han though. And now it is the Russia. Nowadays for dragon we need a crippled bear not a healthy one or a dead one.

So India now has a bigger GDP than Russia from last year??:o: Seems our sanctions are doing wonders for Moscow.
Great going India.

Yes, Russian economy has slipped.

Another key indicator to measure international competitiveness of industrial capacity especially is High Technology Exports (Current US$), i.e. export of products with high R&D intensity, such as in aerospace, computers, pharmaceuticals, scientific instruments, and electrical machinery.

In hi-tech exports, China is 34x of India, 65x of Russia or 67x of Brazil.
China alone represents 94% of BRICS.
