PAKISTAN AIMS TO DEVELOP A LIGHT ARMOURED VEHICLE

If this light armoured vehicle is going to replace the toyota pickups and other un-armoured transports in conflict areas like FATA or Baluchistan, then its an excellent decision. Then again the soldiers on front lines and travelling in conflict zones are FC and they may not get priority to get these vehicles.

Light armoured vehicle can only rely on speed, camo and size to get out of danger in a full scale war. If its equipped with heavy weapons like ATGM or SAM, it will be facing tanks or gunships and will stand no chance against even a single hit.

The vehicle mentioned in the year book is most likely to be a JV any way so the Marauder can be a possibility as well, theoretically speaking at least. Do not expect them to reinvent the wheel, they NEVER do (and that is actually great). This new vehicle is most likely going to be a licensed produced vehicle.

It is an armored car! :)
Not an MRAP however. We should not mix them both. MRAP and the light armored car like the one mentioned above are meant for different roles and cannot/should not be replaced with one another for pretty obvious reasons.

So many countries are making SAfrican origin MRAP and then selling them as well. Kazakhstan is the latest one they bought the license for the Marauder and they will export it as well. The Money spent on buying new MAXXPRO could have gotten the license for Mbombe or Marauder to be churning out in Pakistan.

As for the armored car well that is not going to cut the mustard but it will be attractive for civilian market.

Yes. And as i said, the Light armored vehicle being mentioned in this thread is also most likely going to be a JV with one foreign company. South Africans might be the one!

Well it will and that is why there are so many vehicles being made by some many companies that in this same league. Remember this is a light armored vehicle. You cannot compare it with MRAP. Use it in that role and it is bound to fail. Use an MRAP vehicle where you can do with a light armored vehicle and it wont be very efficient. Different vehicles different roles and the one we made was fit for the role it is made of. It was not meant to cross mine fields. Light armored cars are NOT for that purpose. Army should have acquired these in numbers to fill in that light armored role while working on a MRAP along side (now both are going to be JVs)

HIT better get these or Cougar series from South Africa or the one bought by UAE than fooling us because most likely they are going to come up with another disaster like epic failure Muhafiz

why why why why can't we make the Paramount Group's Marauder in Pakistan? It's not like the company or South Africa are being problematic.
Absolutely, complete garbage which will cause tonnes of casualties. RG32/Mamba is what was required; i see always squandering away to these quasi ventures which will not yield anything worth; i am sure it is all massive kickbacks.

Hazrat feast your eye on some Mbombe. Forget everyone else Paramount Group is the best.

UAE got the license to make the Denel MRAP in UAE for the same price Pakistan is buying new MAXXPRO, height of stupidity! Kickbacks make sense.

absolutely, they need to be taken out and whipped. They will never learn and give the kids on the front line garbage. Really they just need to buy entire stock of buffels which will work and you can build onwards. It is just a shock to see your people's leadership which has completely sold its underpants for change.

btw .... UAE is doing KDK assembly; it still shows up as export on our sales book. Everything is getting shipped from here to UAE.

Your folks just need to go here and order the refurbished equipment and newer equipment from one of the local cheaper versions or just Ratel alone is worth it.

Why can't we make our own arouted vehicles??
I am no mechanical engineer but why can't we just use the frame of the 5 tonne trucks we are using, make a composite armour hull, add a coupula witha 12.7 mount, reinforce the structure to sustain the additional weight.
I don't know the exact details of how such a project would work but it's seems plausible to me.
These 5 tonnes are somewhat resistant to IEDs as they are.

to build something which is necessary for our soldiers and police the so called loud mouth generals wont order it and wont buy it either unless they are getting some big commission .they just got a 20% rise in there salaries today GOD Knows how much more money they need.
then you got people on this forum with real time military contacts and information who know the names of generals who have taken commission and they wont name them example is
ALCOTAN Shoulder Fired Anti Tank
but if its a politician they are happy to run around the whole forum naming them .where is the patriotism in that when some ones action have caused a loss of precious life of a solider or a police officer .

just daying that MRAP and light armored vehicles should be mixed up. Both have there particular roles, even in war situation and hot zones and i think Pakistan needs a few of both. Cannot replace one with the other. Not us at least.
Thats what i was trying to say man. :)

Our most hostile areas even don't have MRAP. 200 MRAP are in use of Army that too in limited areas. Every second day soldiers travelling in death trap other wise known as Toyota Hilux are being martyred not just buy IED but even bloody AK 47 manages to do it.

Werent they gifted?
No, New ones are bought last year the one prior to that where the left over from Afghanistan.

Great news is a Hybrid of both armored and MRAP is now available, but something needs to happen on speeding up armored vehicles for security forces.
