i dont have a problem with this but the afghans certainly will and the attitude of the west has been exactly that - hypocritical. in order to ensure effectiveness of the task force, these pitfalls need to be avoided initially and as the trust builds then the command of the task force can rotate amongst the 2 countries and the Nato forces, just like the coalition naval task force 150 operating in the gulf area.

Not much we can do about hypocrisy, but I just meant that Pakistan can argue that they are the ones begging for a Joint Force, and already being lead by foreign forces, therefore they should not have any issue with the Pakistani proposal, or some variation of it.

I imagine we would have ISAF, Pakistani and Afghan officers at the lower levels.

I suppose we shall find out in the days to come what reception the Ambassador's proposal gets.

Lets say tomorrow NATO and the GoA accept Afghan Taliban conditions and share power with them, what do you think will happen to the TTP and AQ groups in Pakistan who are carrying out these suicide bombings and terrorist attacks, not against Afghanistan, but to impose a perverted form of Shariah in Pakistan?

Why would these groups stop, when their goal is to destroy Pakistan, not Afghanistan?

And just as the Taliban are using Tribal connections and loyalties in FATA for support, so to will they switch to using the areas in Afghanistan for the purpose of destabilizing Pakistan. So the idea of JBF's has a huge utility for Pakistan as well, as these can continue to be used to prevent reverse infiltration into Pakistan.

The command will most likely be rotated or be with the US. But thats soo unfair, Pakistani soldiers taking orders from ANA AKA Drug Lord/War Lord Alliance will be a sad day indeed.
