What's new

Pakistan 2012 GDP growth rate revised to 4.2% from 3.6%:World Bank

You are. I am  @ you.

One year of slightly faster growth rate and Pakistanis are going berzerk. Wonder why.

In the end both countries had a s*tt*y growth rates in 2012 with Pakistan's population growth rate being higher. In the end, the per capita income growth rate would be similar for both countries in 2012.

I will congratulate Pakistanis when they touch 5 % growth. That's worth talking about.

Neither Pakistan, nor India for that matter, need your approval or praise.

Pakistanis have a reason to celebrate, even through a turmulant time, Pakistan was able to exceed expectations and grow the economy. It was able to prove those idiots that kept saying that "Pakistan's economy will break the country" wrong (as it always has).

Let's also keep in mind that before the so called war on terror started, Pakistan and India were pretty much neck and neck. It's only because of this war that India was able to surpass Pakistan

.
If Pakistan is performing beyond 4% under such circumstances

let even if you mark me as optimistic let it be.But i am damn sure under peaceful environment like pre 2004 we can even reach double digit growth rate for a decade.

I hope the FDI atleast reaches 3billion mark this year from 1billion present

. .
Pakistan was ALWAYS superior to india when it came to infrastructure, high-way road construction etc...

Take last 10 years of civil war out, and we shall see...Anyways, good for you if you're going ahead in infrastructure..

Let this civil war be over....let Pakistan stabilize..and we'll play 'infrastructure-infrastructure' all you want....

The point of your post - 'Pakistan was always better in infrastructure'.The thing is,post liberalisation,India has been able to built infrastructure fast, and has effectively overtaken you in many sectors.
We now has world class airports, metro rails, expressways, modern highways and the like.
Anyways, that link was about Dedicated Freight Rail Corridors-that will form the transportation backbone of a mega size Industrial area, stretching between Mumbai & Delhi.

@gslv mk3 also has too much air in his brain. Do mention him next time.

Do you remember the last time when you called Indian cities slums & ran away when @INDIC posted the stats of percentage of slum population in both countries?

And your friend @Umair Nawaz is another delusional guy,he thinks that Pakistan is a Tegional power while India is not...:omghaha:

ISLAMABAD - International Monetary Fund is flaunting an impression of dissatisfaction over government’s projections of economic targets, as IMF has estimated different figures of economic figures than Pakistan including GDP growth, budget deficit and revenue collection targets for the current fiscal year 2013-14.
IMF’s report, “Article IV consultation and request for an extended arrangement under the extended fund facility”, and Pakistan’s budgetary documents have presented different economic projections for the current fiscal year 2013-14. The different projections indicate that Pakistan has assured the Fund for revising economic targets likely to introduce imposition of taxes and reduction in developmental expenditures.
Against the Pakistan’s projection of budget deficit of 6.3 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or Rs1.651 trillion, the Fund estimated that country’s deficit would be 5.8 percent of GDP or Rs1.463 trillion - a difference of approximately Rs180 billion. Another major different between Pakistan and IMF is on revenue collection target for the ongoing financial year 2013-14. The government of Pakistan has estimated that revenue collection target for the ongoing financial year would be Rs 2,475 billion. However the Fund projected that Federal Board of Revenue would be able to collect only Rs 2,345 billion – a difference of Rs 130 billion. It suggests that government would have to introduce taxation measures to reach the revenue collection target of Rs 2,475 billion if IMF assessment is true.
IMF has projected that Pakistan’s real GDP growth is estimated at 2.5 percent for the current financial year 2013-14. However, the government of Pakistan has projected 4.4 percent GDP growth rate for the same period. The IMF estimates 10 percent inflation for the current fiscal year as compared to the budgeted projection of 8 per cent.
The IMF has indicated a reduction from the budgeted allocation for Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) by a massive Rs 321 billion an estimated reduction of Rs 120 billion in federal development expenditure with total allocation under PSDP projected at Rs 420 billion as opposed to the budgetary allocation of Rs 540 billion for the current fiscal year; and provincial development spending also subjected to a reduction of Rs201 billion in the current fiscal year under the EFF programme with total provincial PSDP expenditure projected at Rs 414 billion under the programme against Rs615 billion estimated in the budget.
The Nation has tried to contact Secretary Finance Dr Waqar Masud and Advisor to Finance Ministry who is also spokesperson Rana Assad Amin to get their official comments on the issue but they did not respond to the call.

I don't know what question you asked me.

Your point is meaningless, because it goes into semantics and the nitty gritty. This has little to do with the topic at hand, so I don't know why you're bringing it up.

Ok,here is some info for you.

1.Maruti Suzuki is a fully Japanese owned Indian subsidary,it usually brought its mods designed in Japan, but in the past decade the Indian subsidary is designing cars for itself-google Maruti A star,Maruti Ertiga & Maruti X Alpha. And many of these cars are(or are to be ) marketed in the International markets-Including Europe (A star is already sold there)

This is a level which Pakistani automotive companies cannot evwn dream of.And add to that we have Indian automotive companies that are global giants-Tata & Mahindra.

2.Indian roads,oh well, they are improving day by day.We already have 18,000 kms of 4-6 lane National highways, and more are being built. We will have 6500 kms of 6 lane national highways by 2015,and 3000 kms of expressways are under construction.

In case of city roads, many elevated highways/flyovers/ring roads to eliminate congestion.Even tier 3 Indian cities like mysore now have 6 lane + 4 service lane ring roads. And this is in addition to all those metro/monorail/brts projects,we have in cities.
Oh well,I guess the upcoming Jaipur metro is a good concept for Pakistan to emulate,if they plan to build a metro rail.It has elevated viaducts for trains & elevated road for cars..;)
Oh well, here is our hyderabad ring road, its 158 km long, 8-12 lane + 4 service lane wide ,acces controlled,no 2 or 3 wheelers allowed.

You can compare with any of yours,if required.
