Rawalpindi - September 26, 2011:

An impressive opening ceremony of three weeks long joint Exercise (AL-SAMSAAM-IV-2011) between Pakistan Army and Royal Saudi Land Forces was held today near Jhelum. National Flags of both the countries were hoisted. Inspector General Training and Evaluation, Lieutenant General Muzamil Hussain was chief guest on the occassion.

Speaking on the occassion Lieutenant General, Muzamil Hussain said that Saudi Arabia has always been a Pakistan’s special friend and armies of both countries maintain close ties with each other. He said joint exercise will provide an opportunity to troops of both the countries to benefit from each other’s experience. Defense Attache of Saudia Arabia Commodore Abdullah Saeed Ghamdi also attended the ceremony and said that both the nations have long lasting and strong historical relationship.

It is worth mentioning here that the joint Exercise aims at familiarization and sharing of information through an inclusive training programme in real time. This will also include collective training at unit and brigade level to observe drills and procedures in low intensity conflict operations. The Exercise will enhance the battle competence, of participating troops against intimidation operations.

I am surprised at how quickly the Type-56 is being deployed among the army , should we consider it a failure of G-3 ?

The G-3's adaptability to the environment is the concern, its practically useless for CQB..
considering the sort of warfare we are fighting, which is intermixed with harsh terrain and CQB.. the G-3 is not suitable.
The MP-5 is useless at longer ranges , so the Type-56 is the compromise that works in both situations.

If and when the US should decide to engage in overt hostilities with Pakistan, be rest assured that their bases in Arabia and Guylf countries, will be very important from a logistics stand point and that the armies of these Arab monarchies will in fact be cooperating with the US.

The Pakistan public is being offered the view that the recent visit of the Saudi security delegation is an attempt to further the relationship with Pakistan, however, these arab monarchies are tied to the US in a very deep way, economically and politically and of course the most important, the security relationship, their very thrones will be forfeit if they don't purse US policy dictation, Pakistani readers should be clear about this.

We always acknowledge politics - and this is merely politics but for Arabia to mean what they say, they must deny the US the ability of forward basing and staging - and this they are unwilling to do - Why is this? Either they are covering their own behinds or they are playing politics - this is the unfortunate reality.
