This is a once in a century type play, barring a nuclear holocaust, new one will serve our great Indian democracy for, at the very least, another 100+ years.

One may make a good case about the futility of such expenditure and etc but we're happy with it overall.

Which includes what the Dehli Muslim dynasties, Sikh rule and all left behind to forge it.

Vote bank politics let loose by Modi (I think Time or Newsweek did a piece on him right after the Gujrat massacre and apparently a friend of his with the surname Khan testified that he himself isn’t an extreme hindutva type but is machiavellian so will do what he needs to further his cause) Have to be curbed - he has the results already and now needs to reconcile the national fabric rapidly.

Pakistan is done for - so the need for that division no longer exists.

That cannot happen until all communities get equal uplift - the emphasis has to move away from community favoritism to merit all the way. For that you need to create merit opportunities for the minorities while letting them practice their religion freely.

Its not exactly an easy mix but Canada is a good role model for it.

In some cases the problems are being “created” by extremists in communities including hindus. Its like previously many Hindus would have ignored the consumption of beef by other communities but constantly raising that issue again and again by both power hungry clerics and associated politicians has made it an issue.

Nobody will go crazy over religion in the subcontinent so long as their other needs are being met - the nutcase individuals aside the religious card works when grievances exist.

The modern Indian Hindu or Muslim is more and more agnostic to religious practices as the middle class dream is realized - when you start making that dream difficult regardless of whodunnit the blame game is easy to incite
