I think there is a LACK of real understanding AS to how powerful the INDIAN NAVY ARE and the speed at which they wil grow these next 5-10 years.

The indians are indenguious building some of the largest warships in the world they include nuclear subs.

Pakistan wil probablt have to divert half its air force to help the NAVY.

So are we Pakistan navy is weakest among all but in limited resources they are doing fine, new ships and capabilities are acquired and Naval nuclear command and Nuke sub project is already initiated and we are not in race with IN because we have to defend a small area.

in war being jittery is not an option!

now let me reply to your two points you raised:

a) ORIONS won't operate away from SAM cover besides the coast of gawadar is almost into the arabian sea corridor so PN only aim will be to keep the merchant navy corridor open!

b) MIG29Ks/SU-30 MKIs(even though they will be used not for the navy but for air superiroirty roles) and jaguars will all have to face SAMs along with BVR missiles fired from the JF-17s in navy protection role. in which case you have to understand that fighters flying of land based airfields can have higher CAP time compared to fighters flying off the deck of a carrier or coming all the way across from bombay to gawadar with aireal refuelling somewhere over the indian ocean.

simply, your naval budget is very tiny to have JF-17s or even J-7... and MKI etc don't need to come very close to ships sam coverage....

My my that is impressive. Come on PK build your economy so we can have these things too, we wanna see a powerful navy too.

Pakistani posters are invited to listen to the conversations of the ordinary folk - once they get past their litany of complaints, almost all due to the Socialist economy, you will hear them add, that Pakistan armed forces are too big, in other words, they don't money being spent on the armed forces and want that money be spent on them and their progeny.

Friends, Pakistan is a rich country, with tremendous potential, it need not challenge anybody ship for ship or weapon for weapon, but to unleash this potential, to effect a economic change, there has to be a change in the nature of Pakistani politics - Pakistani politics is about the elite extracting resources from the economy and the state controls the economy, that is why every landed peasant is now an aristocrat, why the bureaucrat is the lord and master of loss making state owned enterprises.

You can make sure that a change is effected - it really is either them or the nation, you have a responsibility to act.

KARACHI: A senior Navy officer said on Saturday that Pakistan was fully capable of giving effective response to the enemy during any border clash, Geo News reported.

Speaking to media in Ormara, where the navies of Pakistan and Saudi Arab are busy in war games, Vice Admiral Zakaullah said that Pakistan was not concerned due to New Delhi’s naval capability as it had the ability to defend itself from against any aggression.

He told that two PC-3 Orean aircraft were damaged during a militant attack on Navy’s Mehran Base in Karachi.

I hope it is true because the navy has been the weakest arm of the Pakistan military.

YOUR AIR FORCE ISnt TOO HOT EITHER.

Your fighter fleet is lacking a TRUE MMRCA that word class bar the F16 which iself is USA restricted/dependant

Your SAM capability over meduim & long range is ver poor

AND YOUR TRANSPORT & HELICOPTER nos and payload are like fraction of india.s with little or no investment planned in the near future.

ONE AREA where your are strong is AWACS but even these are on turbo prop planes to keep cost down

Western Naval Fleet consists of Talwars, Bhramaputras and in future P15Bs will join. Rest all Warships (including P 17As in the future) are on the Eastern Coast.

IN Aviation Fleet backed by IAF assets is for achieving Air superiority over Northern Arabian Sea.

The Surface Fleet comprises significant ASW assets mainly in the form of Seahawks.

A Kolkata alone has more Brahmos than Ships in the Pakistani Navy.

P15Bs will complete the task in every other department.
