What's new

Pak economy size shrinks to $264 bn

Bangaldesh’s GDP is not larger than Pakistan. Get your facts straight.

I am an American, not a Pakistani.

I'm sorry your wrong sir

Bangladesh gdp is now 300.billion dollars according to five different global indices and is protected to grow the fastest annually next few years in South Asia
This year it was due to grow at 8% HIGHER THAN India.
Bangladesh forex is three times Pakistanis.
Yes they are richer than Pakistan by some distance now

Check any statistic you wish be it Goodman Sachs or world economic forum or any you wish or rely on .

It's true and shows the catastrophic collapse of Pakistan's gdp.
Like I said since CPEC they have been in serious trouble just like sri lanka were left in debt earlier

Pakistan’s GDP was $314 billion in 2018. Keep in mind this is the official size of Pakistan’s economy, vast majority of Pakistan’s economy remains undocumented. Few years ago, the size of Pakistan’s retail market was estimated to be at $152-billion. Figures like this give a better indication of the true size of the economy than official numbers . For example, Pakistan’s GDP was $314-billion in 2018 and magically shrunk to $284-billion in 2019 despite the gdp growing at 3.3% in 2019. Can someone explain to me how this is even possible?

THE IMF has bangladesh at $340 billion in 2020

They are definitley the fastest growing and second most poweful economy in South Asia

They are growing at 8% per year
India at 6.5%
Pakistan expected this year 5%

PS this was before Cronovirus kicked in AND all these numbers could be destroyed

Not documented = cant be accounted for surely

Do you think that is unique to Pakistan to a certin degree that exists even in WEST and China & India

Undocumented economy means corruption looting tax evasion which makes individuals rich BUT THE STATE POOR

its sign of a poorly administered state which effects there abiliy to spend on health welfare and DEFENSE

Never said undocumented economy was unique to Pakistan, but it’s most certainly most acute in Pakistan. By the way, you haven’t told me how Pakistan’s GDP came down from $314-billion to $284-billion despite a 3.3% GDP growth between 2018-2019. As I said, Pakistan’s official GDP figures make no sense and other more reliable factors should be studied to get an accurate picture of the true size of its economy. The retail market value figures I posted are one indicator.

Ordinarly A GDP will rarely fall .

Only if a nation is devastated by war like Iraq or Libya recently are good examples.

Why Pakistan gdp is decling is worrying even more as China is pouring $billions into CPEC.

It could be due to rising debt externally And your Pakistani rupee is declining against the dollar.

$265 billion was your GDP in 2012 and two year ago it was $300 billion.

Why GDP remains the best indicator of a nations health and how it is calculated

GDP growth rate has been in positive for all past years except 2020 so is it increasing so slow or even lesser at times than projected amount? Can someone please explain? This is very confusing.

In 2018, Pakistan's GDP was 314 Billion USD according to World Bank and growth rate has been positive since so it means Pakistan GDP is higher than Bangladesh ?!

Your Pakistani rupee is being devalued gaint the dollar. its in free fall

The currency is losing value so your GDP starts falling in dollar terms which is the main currency globally.

Okay that makes sense, it means devaluing your currency == shrinking your GDP.

But searching over on internet, there is no mention that devaluing your currency shrinks your GDP!? This can't be it? @BHarwana help here
