LeT behind 26/11 attack; Pak corroborates statements of Kasab

All the seven terrorists arrested in Pakistan for their involvement in the Mumbai attack belonged to LeT and there is "sufficient incriminating evidence against them," investigators have said.

Pakistani investigators in a report to an anti-terrorism court also corroborated the statement made by Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone gunman arrested in Mumbai.

The report presented to the court conducting the trial of seven accused, including LeT operations commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi states that there is "sufficient incriminating evidence on record against those arrested for orchestrating the Mumbai attacks."

The report further said that evidence collected by Pakistani investigators had corroborated the statement made by Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone attacker arrested in Mumbai.

Pakistani prosecutors and investigators have also categorically stated in the report that almost all the accused belong to the Lashkar-e-Taiba and that the attacks in November 2008 were masterminded by Lakhvi, Dawn News reported on Wednesday.

It further said: "The accused 'in active connivance of one another' planned, trained, aided, abetted and made preparations to carry out deadly terror attacks in Mumbai on November 26 to 28, 2008, through their co-accused, causing the murder of 166 innocent persons and injury to 304 persons, besides destruction of property in crores of rupees."

If thats true, Id say it is a good sign,a positive one,one which gives me hope for justice.

Why is it that they are reacting all of a sudden :woot:

The report is part of the court proceedings in Pakistan which will take its time due to ongoing investigations. Makes me wonder what all those Pakistani members of PDF who claimed that LeT was not responsible for Mumbai will now have to say now that their own criminal justice system has indicted LeT in the matter :coffee:

Mods.. Another thread (started by me) on this in the Strategic Issues forum.. Please merge..

Now they will accuse Zardari for all this and vouch for another 1000 year of war and hatred.

Stop this nonsense.. dont start flame baiting on your own posts.. Its a step that was going to happen after all investigations were done. Isnt Kasab still going though court? Investigations from the Pakistani side were done and they came up with the conclusion that LeT was responisible for the attacks. They did not sum up their investigations on the first day of the attack.

I agree.

Indians, save the caustic comments for when those conspiracy theories come out (wait only a day or two) and welcome this step for what it is, a positive step.

Yes.. please refrain from negative comments. Seriously, if it goes thru right, it has the potential of giving a major boost to normalization of relations...

I also read a small news item yesterday, a few hours after this came out about India's Foreign Minister looking forward to meeting Pakistani FM in london.. May be some back channel stuff is happeneing..

Or may be I am get a tad over optimist..

Lets see how this goes down

The back channel is the my real worry.

Under US pressure our netas will talk and believe "their" sweet talks while China and their military are busy building more capabilities.

And "Flash" suddenly we will back stabbed and surprised.

We should talk but we should also fast forward military, intelligence and diplomatic buildup. Also in our country there is no dearth of fools who will swept away by sweet talks and argue for defense spending.

So in future we will not be surprised or back stabbed like Kargil or 1962.

Yeah.. a good step indeed finally..!! Such kind of hard steps are required which can prove to the world that pakistan means business..!!! No matter how hard pakistan fights terrorist.. through such steps against militants aimed at india, pakistan can gain trust and respect in the world.

See there are couple of things nobody can deny ..........................

Initally Pakistan rejected the claims then there was diplomatic pressure build, They accepted but partially...

India said it would not sustain another attack there was nothing new about it but when US(Robert Gates) issued a similar statement everything changed overnight

So according to me if the pakistani gov wants credit for good things that it has done then why wait for the last second decision which shows that they are working against their will ........You have to agree that if pakistan would have done these things in stipulated amount of time the whole world would have praised it for its efferts and this would have helped pak to wash some unwanted stains up its sleve
