ISLAMABAD - It is amazing when one sees Pakistan Army troops working in incredible conditions virtually in an environment where heavens are above you and tracks below.

This is what an armoured regiment of Pakistan Armoured Corps of Army has proved during the course of war against terror. Believe it or not, the Pakistan Armoured Corps has set a new world record by taking its tanks at the incredible highest elevation point of 3,176 metres above sea level, never seen anywhere in the world today except in Pakistan.

The armoured regiment which was assigned the task made it possible by undertaking such an incredible task.

It took its tanks to Brekh Muhammad Kandao pass, an offshoot of Koh-i-Safed in Pakistan which is more than 12,000 feet above the sea level and opposite to Torra Bora mountains of Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. Pakistan Armed Forces had successfully purged the erstwhile FATA by killing hardcore terrorists and smashing their hideouts.

In the course of war, the Pakistan Army offered huge sacrifices and achieved the grand objective of freeing Pakistan of terrorism. Like other wings of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Army Armoured Corps also played a crucial role in the war against terrorism and in ridding the country of the scourge of terrorism.

Equipped with more than 3000 Main Battle Tanks, the corps is based at the old garrison town of Nowshera and is organized into two armoured divisions and a number of independent armoured brigades. In the aftermath of Battle of Tora Bora, formal troop deployment was begun by the Pakistan Army, at the behest of the Pakistan Government, in 2002.

Pakistan Army has launched number of operations and made marvellous achievements.

The ongoing operation Radd-u-Fassad was launched across the country through information based operations aiming at indiscriminately eliminating the “residual/latent threat of terrorism”, consolidating the gains made in other military operations, and further ensuring the security of Pakistan’s borders.

Earlier, the following major military operations were carried out by the armed forces against local and foreign terrrorists in the erstwhile FATA and Pak-Afghan border regions: Operation Rah-i-Haq-I in Swat valley and Shangla district (2007), Operation Rah-i-Haq-II in Swat valley and Shangla (2008), Operation Sirat-i-Mustaqeem in Khyber Agency (2008), Operation Sherdil jointly launched with Frontier Corps in Bajaur Agency (2008), Operation Rah-i-Haq-III in Swat valley and Shangla (2009), Operation Black Thunderstorm in Buner, Lower Dir and Shangla district (2009), Operation Brekhna in Mohmand Agency (2009), Operation Rah-i-Rast, commonly known as Swat Operation (2009), Operation Rah-i-Nijat in South Waziristan (2009), Operation Zarb-i-Azb in North Waziristan along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border (2014) and the ongoing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad across the country (2017).

Couldnt been more bullshit. India has been operating tanks above 15000 feet since the 80s, and i believe the are much more potent and heavier than these (not sure on the second part).

15000 feet are usually hilltops in Ladakh region (Indian Tanks aren't deployed on Hilltops)

They are mainly deployed in valleys or where road infrastructure reach ..

These Pakistani tanks are deployed on Hilltops .. taking a whole tank there is not a piece of cake

heavier than these

Yea you don't want "heavy" tanks to be deployed on hill tops or mountains. They'll be harder to move up & come down. Also, easier to attack too since their movement is a lot more restricted.

But you would know that if you knew what you were talking about.

Where exactly are these Indian tanks deployed?

Please provide proof that Indian tanks are deployed on 15,000 ft or take a hike

Stupid title and discussion. There's nothing envious about this. This is like the people that award themselves guinness world records in categories unimaginable.

Kudos to the soldiers that had to do this. It was a necessity and could be done by every army out there if they needed to. Wouldn't have been needed if the government stopped its apologetic approach towards the western border.
