This day should be celebrated in GIK, NUST and other famous universities also.

:rofl::rofl:

@ Nakodo: Paindooooo day.. lol

do you understand punjabi? if yes than you should know what is 'paindoooo'

.
Paindoo means a resident of a pind. Pind means Village.

Celebration of a stereotype :P Of course we Lahoris term all non-Lahori Punjabis as paindu. Assi tay shehr de loki aan...

In any other country, this would be racism. Also there is a signficant rise of stature amongst the paindoos too. Quite a few of them have gone through unis and are genuinely more hard working than the rest of us. Way back, paindoos would hide the fact that they come from a pind and would associate themselves with the closest city, nowadays the statement "Main tay nira paindoo aan" is said with pride most of the time.

This is just a bunch of burgers with no sense and obviously mocking the less fortunate paindoos. Also whats up with Lums, its a prestigious education university, but it seems like there is some party or the other going on over there all the time.

What are we celebrating here?

Basically people from the viilages (pind in punjabi) who behave like pure villagers and the lifestyle of a villager, which might seem silly to people living in urban area but is actually very honest lifestyle without any drama, where they have their own way of talking and taking things in life..I like them.

this what they are celebrating.

I understand little bit of Punjabi. And now I understand what the loling is all about. Like they say "Jinne Lahore nee vekha, o jameya hee nee" So prob Lahore has been associated with being a city since donkey's years.

Also "bunch of burgers" probably is a reference to yuppy kind of yo crowd people? The kind that subsist on Coke and McD & are more American than Americans?

Jinnay Lahore (pronounces, La-Or) naii takiya, o jamiyaii nahi.

Burgers and Bun Kababs. This is how the teenagers define societies. The modern kids call it a Burger, the traditional kids call it a Bun Kabab.

So now they are pretty much known by their own preferred terminology.

Modern Lahoris also feel they are demeaning themselves by speaking Punjabi and would stick to Urdu or English. Not cool. This Paindoo day is more of the same.

Thanx that is probably the Lahori way of demarcating the class divide.

English understandable, as a legacy of British rule, but Urdu (throwback to Allama Iqbal?) ? Also what about the business community, as across much of North India Punjab, Delhi (which is flooded by Punjabis, Sardars and Haryanvi Jaats), Chandigarh, to lesser extent Himachal & Jammu Punjabi is the language of conducting business.

Business is another thing. If you go on the street and talk to shop keepers in Urdu, then they will know you're not a local and you will get exorbitant prices.
