What's new

Paindoo Day at LUMS LAHORE.

 Just pure hilarious...

Paindoo means a resident of a pind. Pind means Village.

Celebration of a stereotype :P Of course we Lahoris term all non-Lahori Punjabis as paindu. Assi tay shehr de loki aan...

In any other country, this would be racism.
Also there is a signficant rise of stature amongst the paindoos too. Quite a few of them have gone through unis and are genuinely more hard working than the rest of us. Way back, paindoos would hide the fact that they come from a pind and would associate themselves with the closest city, nowadays the statement "Main tay nira paindoo aan" is said with pride most of the time.

This is just a bunch of burgers with no sense and obviously mocking the less fortunate paindoos. Also whats up with Lums, its a prestigious education university, but it seems like there is some party or the other going on over there all the time.
It's just another urban vs rural class divide not racism. Agreed with the rest of your post. I think this event can become constructive if appropriate measures are taken to turn this into a cultural festival of a sort and presenting various cultures that exist in Punjab.

Even if it's a mock, i think it's a positive and good thing, no doubt. the goal is to raise awareness and to have fun. so celebrating ure culture is a good thing in my books.

What are we celebrating here?

They are celebrating Village Life and cultural dresses. Kind of Fancy Dress Day but with theme of village dressing only. A way to show "we are shehri" and fancy about life at villages.. but whatever makes one happy

OMG racism, urban vs rural divide, burgers bla bla bala.

Bhai I don't know about LUMS but in FAST-NU Lahore the students of final year in their last semester celebrate these days to make their last semester memorable. Although each batch has its own specific days but some of the most commonly celebrated days are Paindoo Day,Dakko Day,School Day and Bhekari Day.

They are just having little fun :azn:
