Finally after 9 years of searching teasing the PAF the Indians have finally settled on Delivery date of Rafale

Cost for 36 Rafales is $7.87 billion

Option for further 18 Rafales in follow on oder in 2021 WITH maX 10% price increase GURANTEED by France

PAF will FACE 3 dqds of Rafale by 2021-2022 WORST CASDE secenario

The deal includes hundreds od meteore ram jet & mica BVR missles and new criuise missle the SCALP new generation stealth land attack missle with range limited to 300km but capable of 500km range.

When we consider the $2.5 billion dollar upgrade of 50 mirage2000-5 the PAF will face over 100 highly advanced French fighters by 2021 alongside the huge fleet of 250+ Su30mki many of which will stat super upgrade

Well lets see ... Is rafale a big threat ? well yes it is. Does it alter the balance of air power ... not by much. If I were to go by my Indian friends favorite handbook "Aviation: Me myself and I" anything in Indian colors is a beast. Back in the good ol days, our IAF fanboy brigade was out to convince the world how the SU-30 MKI was better then typhoon and by extension rafale. The marketing went as far as to publicize results of exercises with friendly nations where kill ratios were shown and the entire fanbrigade was behind the idea that MKI is the best 4.5 gen aircraft on the face of the planet. Ofcourse time after time those exercise claims were proven to be wrong and the marketing machine had to swallow it's pride and release a statement that we take our claims back and exercises as such are meant to make both participants better hence no need for results etc. Now we're hearing that rafale is the big game changer. Well if you say so. Let's not forget the MMRCA has historically been lagging in meeting the specified time frames and well even in the best case scenario their arrival is 3 odd years away.

As far as a "counter" is concerned, there is none. More accurately in my opinion, there is none needed. The days of an appropriate counter have been left back in the dust. The reason being the overall make of what seems to be the future PAF. If this deal was on time and was composed of its original numbers then there would have been a cause for concern. A solution to that was available as well in the shape of J-10B. However with the rafale arriving in 2019, and PAF already heavily involved in reshaping its fleet, there is not cause for much concern. In 2019 the PAF will already will be a different variable altogether phasing out a large number of it's older airframes, adding newer weapons, and inducting a new block of the JFT .

In my opinion, an addition of 36 rafales will not tilt the balance of power too much in the favor of IAF which is already facing many human resource and maintenance challenges, only to add another type of aircraft in its fleet.

Deal sanctioned by India today.. French President flying to New Delhi to sign deal 26th September .

PAF is already in a state of war with india currently fielding 18 new F16/52 and upgrading 55 older blocks of F16 .

The question is now will they seek a deterrence to Rafales which will tart arriving 18 months time AND will include follow on orders post 2021,,,,,

You guys are looking sat SU35 ............... AS an option OR J10 ............some even mentioned Saudi financed Typhoon option ...

What will they do now most ikely ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I have a feeling that Pakistan has already started looking for options for newer plane for PAF and there will be some development in coming months. I am not sure but we might go for typhoon.
