ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Staff Air Chief Marshal Suhail Aman on Wednesday said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is well-equipped and an updated force. Our feet are on the ground, he told a questioner during a brief media chat here at the Nur Khan Airbase on arrival of PAF’s C-130 aircraft that was awarded a trophy in the prestigious Air Tattoo Show held recently in the UK.

He said PAF along with the other armed forces of the country have proved their mettle as the best potent force while effectively taking up tasks in operation Zarb-e-Azb. The entire world had monitored PAF’s performance during Zarb-e-Azb and is appreciative of the achievements made while executing the operation, he said.

When asked to comment on the buying spree of modern aircraft and inventory by the adversary, he said we are not worried about anything and are continuously monitoring the situation. He said PAF is cognizant of the entire situation and efforts are underway to meet the requirements in essential sectors.

Meanwhile, under a phased plan he said the ageing fleet in the PAF inventory is being replaced with the flying combatmachines of the modern era. He said that PAF’s JF-17 Thunder aircraft is in a high demand at the international forums and efforts are in hand to comply with the demand.

On the winning of trophy by PAF C-130 Hercules at the World Air Tattoo Show held in UK, he said the winning of the trophy speaks volumes that the world understands Pakistan’s point of view besides acknowledging its efforts in achieving peace in the region.

He said the pictures painted on the exterior of the aircraft not only depict the country’s commitment towards eradication of terror but also project its soft image in a forceful and effective manner. He said the operation provided ample opportunity to forge a synergy that brought the armed forces of the country closer to take up the challenges in a more effective and productive manner. He said not only the armed forces of the country are united but the entire nation is also fully on their back in operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Earlier, the Chief of Air Staff inspected the aircraft which carried historical pictures of operation Zarb-e-Azb along with the different stages achieved by the aircraft itself during its last 55 years of flying.

The crew of the aircraft sharing experiences of the air show said that the participants of the show were highly appreciative of the efforts of Pakistan armed forces, in particular and people of country in general for their resilience and steadfastness to meet the challenges.

The aircraft carrying slogan ‘Nothing is beyond my reach’ was inducted in the PAF’s inventory during 1960. It had been kept flying worthy since then out of sheer commitment and contributions made by the engineers and technical staff of the PAF ground teams.

Pakistan is doing a good job phasing out old planes with indigenous JF-17s while incrementally increasing the F-16 fleet and force multipliers. With the completion of the CPEC and massive reduction in terror attacks, Pakistan is posed for major economic growth within the next decade. This massive economic growth will push PAF to the road of modernization to meet the evolving regional challenges. Most defence analysis miss this key point.

Still we need 1 more Platform of 4.5 Generation we can't just Replace all 220 Planes with JF-17 and second hand F-16's

A slight misprinting over here it's "PAF is well trained and professional not well equipped and updated"

Exactly

There is still a lot of gap vs we and our top adversaries, the speed at which JFT program is progressing from upgrade being implemented to production is quite scarier with respect to changing strategic scenario of today.

Exactly

those 220 planes are all fighter jets? or 220 includes jets, helicopters, fixed wing aircraft and other trainer/transport aircraft?

I guess JF-17 is going in the right direction. In the end of this year PAF will introduce dual seat JF-17 block 2. Block 3 will be introduced in 2017 or 18 and In sha ALLAH will be a 4+ generation aircraft with a cost of less than $35 million each.

In Air forces it is better to used different types of fighter jets but yes the preference should be for indigenous jets first.

guts is something we seriously lack. too afraid to take on the drones.

its not the pilots or air force who don't have the guts to shot down a drone, its our govt.

Drone isn't a big issue. Pakistan Military have a very good air defense system and we can easily shot a drone. We are also one of the few countries having drones. We built all our drones ourselves.

and in whose govt drones took off from pak bases and bombed inside pak? drone is a big issue. we get humiliated on monthly bases but majority of us are used to it now.

You can't Fight with Rafales if you are Flying F-7's against it Sir... it'll shot you down before you even know..
but in some shows like mahaaz etc you will see pilots making huge statements. this is our national psyche. we are never realistic.

Why not?

What you say would be true if the F7PG was fighting the Rafale 1 vs 1, but Modern Day Warfare is fought under a Net Centric Environment and not 1 vs 1. Off course the Rafale has a better Radar and can see the PG long before PG can see the Rafale, but the PG does not needs its own radar to see the Rafale and can link through to an AWAC or Grouund Control to know where the Rafale is. The F7PG is a deadly fighter in WVR combat, i would say it will fare quite well if its fighting the Rafale's in WVR engagements. Not once, but on multiple occasions the PG's have hammered the F16's and F15's. Most of the engagements against IAF will be fought WVR, and not BVR.
