I do know that US is holding 12 F-16A/B back because USN wouldn't release it.

Why does twin engine make you think again? the A-5 currently in service is is twin engined and i haven't heard any complaints.

Sorry guys did 'nt see your question , My fault :oops: this statement was not for this thread. Lets talk about the trainer L-15. To be very frank right now no one knows its true capabilities I am not saying it is a bad plane no a twin engine trainer what else do we want buy 5 of these puppies and before we transfer our pilots on J-10s they can use L-15.

Not happening afaik. J-10, JF-17 and F-16s are the only new acquisitions. The J-10 and JF-17s are slated to be capable of maritime interdiction as are the new blk52s. I do not believe PAF wants the headache of introducing an entirely new airframe just to cater to a specialized Naval interdiction role...the emphasis is on MR capability.

Looks like a good plane. I don't know if its a good idea to not replace the A-5 with a specialized bomber, I think we definitely should get the Flying Leopard after induction of JF-17 and F-16s is well underway.

I don't think PAF should buy the FBC-1s,just waste of money.J-10,JF-17,or F-16 are all mult-function fighter,they have the potential to develop into fighting-attackers.

Very glad to see a more powerfull PAF!

How much does 1 unit of FBC-1 cost? How do its operating costs compare to the JF-17/F-16? Surely it can't be more expensive?

Well the plain theory of replacing A-5s with J-10 is debunked totally since A-5s will be replaced by the JF-17s and F-16s. Word from the official side.

Also FBC-1 wont be very good in air-to-air roles, so PAF will have to use fighter aircraft as escorts. Might as well use the money to get more J-10s. They'll b able to fend for themselves and can be used for ground attack.

I would agree with the above statement. From what I have read on the subject including people who have read AFDP 2119, FBC1is not on the cards at all.PAF has already calculated its need for aicrafts and FBC1 does not feature in it. We will compensate any deficiecy by increasinf the number of Thunders . There may be another Platform which PAF may require post 2115, to counter fifth generation aircrafts but I suspect efforts will continue along the lines of a joint venture with our friends. Although there is talk of taking on another 33 F16 block 52s,I think this may be counterproductive as the American Government is redefining its strategy and may not want to bolster our defence any further. PAF is very conscious of this and as long as we get our older F16s updated , we will be happy even if the Block 52s get held up and PAFs initial order of 18 is reflective of this.
